I was 5 years old the year we lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin so can pin it down as far as age goes. A group of kids were playing in a tree house that some one’s big brothers had made and one girl said to the other ‘Let’s go see the puppies and do “that” again.’ Feeling curious I followed and Sandy and Connie walked into the shed where the puppies were whose eyes weren’t even open yet. And pulled up their T-Shirts and held puppies against their nipples. The girls were both 6 or maybe Connie was 7, but this made me feel sexual and I felt hot in my groin, though I don’t suppose I got hard, but may have. Now writing this I feel as if I am writing kiddie porn! ---

I think it would be a mistake to equate a child’s sexual feelings with wanting any specific sexual act. That certainly doesn’t fit my experiences or those of anyone I’ve heard of. They’re much more general for kids - an awareness of feelings in their genitals or a desire to be with someone in particular. (And, again, “with someone” might be satisfied through a totally non-sexual activity.) For myself (as a male) most of my sexual feelings were made noticeable to me only because I noticed I had an erection. I didn’t know what to do about it or what it meant, but there it was and it felt good to have one even at a very young age. In fact, I didn’t start masturbating until 12 or so when I figured out the mechanics of sex, then I tried to simulate that. The three most memorable situations that lead to these feelings were when playing doctor (once with a neighbor at 5, then with a cousin around 7) and finding a picture torn out of a pornographic magazine when I was around 7. In fact, at those ages, interest in female anatomy was as much a sort of scientific curiosity as something outright sexual. I knew I liked seeing girls naked, but it was years before I had any idea what might actually follow that. ---

I remember around 7 or 8 my friend and I cutting out pictures of ladies in their panties and bras from his mom’s JC Penney catalogs for future…looking, I guess? Personally? Not that I remember. I do remember being interested in girls/having crushes since second grade. But I don’t remember anything I would call “sexual feelings” until puberty, which was around seventh or eighth grade for me (I don’t remember exactly, but it was before high school.) ---

I had a crush on a girl in my first grade class, but nothing I would consider sexual. I had sort of a girlfriend in fourth grade. We used to square dance together in PE, and I remember hugging her once or twice, but nothing tingly that I can recall. I also had a massive crush on a summer program counselor when I was about 11 or 12. She was probably 18 or 19 at the time. That might be the first time I would consider my feelings toward a girl as being sexual in nature, though I’d certainly have had no idea what to do with her if the opportunity had arisen. Well, there was that Supergirl story when I was 10 or so, where she dressed up as a fairy godmother and tied a young boy (about my age) to a tree with strands of her hair. I really couldn’t understand back then why that story made me feel strange… ---

I rememeber an instance when I was about 8 years old and had no knowledge of sex. I was trying to take a ball away from a girl and found myself in a doggie style position and the urge to hump was very strong. It left an imprint on me that dwelled strongly for possibly years afterward.
