We had a student who was gay, and his parents kicked him out when he told them. A teacher, who was also gay, took him in. A lot of the kids then started a rumor that they were sleeping together, but I never believed it. I challenged anyone who said it, and none of them could offer any reason to believe it other than “They live together and are both gay.” I still don’t believe it. This was in the days before our small city joined the larger County school system. There’s no way that such a well-known situation hadn’t been thoroughly investigated in our little town. ---

When I was in school there were a lot of rumors swirling around one particular young, single female teacher. Eventually she married a former student and they’re still married 20+ years later. She’s probably only 5 or 6 years older than him, so not a huge deal I guess. After graduating high school a girl told me of a relationship she had with a teacher. I believe it, he was pretty slimy. ---

There was a youngish male coach of my prep school’s girl’s gym team who was notorious for holding on a little too long when he was spotting the girls off the balance beam, looking at their bodies a little too directly, etc. It never went beyond that, as far as I know. There was also a quiet, courtly English teacher who became very close to a lonely female student. It was apparent to all that they were spending a lot of time with each other outside of class. He was eventually fired, and she left the school; there were rumors but I don’t know if the relationship ever became sexual. A very popular U.S. history teacher at my sons’ high school was fired a few years ago and eventually pled no contest, was convicted and sentenced to a couple of years in prison for an affair he had with a female student more than a decade earlier. She was a few years underage at the time. I dated a guy whose uncle had been the student and his aunt by marriage the teacher. They were both senior citizens by the time I met them so clearly things had worked out for them. In my high school a girl on the track team ran away with the coach. No idea how that ended up long term and a loner girl hooked up with a first year history teacher. No idea how that worked out either. ---

My high school English teacher was married to a former student of his that he impregnated. A few years after I graduated he left her for another student he knocked up - school board said enough is enough, now he pumps gas at a Mobil station in town. I always work him hard when I fill up there, serves him right for that C+ he gave me. ---

In the first school where I taught there were lots and lots of rumors. Rumors about teachers with other teachers, and teachers with students. My music students were uncommonly equipped to waste instructional time with that kind of stuff. My standard response was along the lines of, “Yes, I have no information about that from \ or \, or \ or \. Would you like me to bring your concerns to \ the next time I seen \? May I use your name to identify the source of my information?” Nah. Never. Not once did anyone say, “Sure, Mr. CC!” Of course, a few years after I left, the head football coach, according to his then ex-wife’s account, was “caught” on his big red couch (by that coach’s ex-wife) in his coach’s office with a 17-year old girl (also by her Mother along with the ex-wife). I still don’t know, and I don’t care. Firearms might have been involved at some point, but again, I don’t care. ---

At my middle school one teacher got fired for having sex with preteen girls and another for sexual harassment. ---

One of my best friends was rumored to be having an affair with the Social Studies teacher. She wasn’t (at least I believe she would have told me if there was truth to it) - but the English teacher had put the moves on her and he was awfully close with another girl the year after. The Social Studies teacher did get fired for inappropriate relationships after we both left, so the rumor about seems to have had some justification on his end if not on hers. I don’t know what happened with the English teacher. ---

It’s surprising to me how many young teachers have been arrested for having sex with their students in the past two decades. I mean, they just put themselves thousands of dollars in debt with student loans to get a teaching degree that’s now essentially worthless to them. Also, I still can’t believe how many people get arrested for soliciting minors online. At this point, I just assume people are going to lie to me if I talk to them online. I’d assume anyone who said there were underage was a cop; I can’t understand how people can still fall that. ---

I too, didn’t know of any teacher/student relationships, but I do recall back when I was in high school, two teachers getting caught fu\*\*ing. Apparently a student walked into a class room and the descriptor goes, the much older male teacher was ramming the much younger female teacher from behind, skirt up, panties down. She always wore loose fitting skirts knee length that I’m sure would lift up easily. The mid-20’s female teacher (and she was friggen HOT) got transferred to another school and the male late 40’s/early 50’s got off (pardon the pun) Scott-free. This would have been around 1969 or '70. 😃 ---

Female teacher got moved to another high school for “Inappropriate behavior”. Apparently she liked to take showers in the gym after school and on several occasions happened to share the shower with female athletes who needed to use it as well. It wasn’t against the rules but considering she was the French teacher and not the gym teacher it weirded the faculty enough (plus lead to all sorts of wild rumors among students) to require an actual transfer. ---

football coach and cheerleaders. don’t know if they had actual sex but certainly he acted inappropriately with at least one student. They were doing a production of Lil abner and the girls were using the weight room to beef up their figures, Coach was very handsy with several of them. I finally asked my mom about it after 45 years (she was a teacher at my school) why nothing was done. she told me he was a winning coach and the principal knew and chose to do nothing. They also had girls who were clearly selling themselves… one said that she only “worked” when the disability checks came out. Another set of sisters’ mother would check them out of school when she had a “client”. ---

A longtime beloved soccer coach and math teacher of our high school died a few years ago and a notice was posted on a local Facebook page. Many female students who were there at the time, now in their 50s, came out in force to denounce him. Never seen anything like it. Same high school, one of the band instructors was seen out with a student but I don’t know what the sex situation was. It was obvious that there was something going on since I was around them constantly and she had him (the teacher) wrapped around her finger. ---

I didnt think of it as “dirty” at the time but back in 1984 our music teacher was chatting away one evening while we were all rehearsing for the school musical and she started saying what male students she would do if she was allowed. ---

My schoolmate of 15 had a sexual relationship with his 26 year old games teacher lasting over a year. I think I was the only one that knew what was going on. It only ended when my mate left school and went to work in another part of the country. The teacher married and had six children.
