I’ve read that it is/was very common in the UK to pour part of a cup of tea into a saucer to cool it down. Don’t know if it’s true, and I’m pretty sure nobody would drink it that way.
That’s what I do when having cold beer in hot weather while sitting at an outdoor cafe: drag the bottle across the table before taking a drink.
