You should listen to the World Music show on the BBC World Service then. Much more global in scope.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned Hawaiian music yet. Talk about a rich musical tradition! One station (I think it was NPR but not sure) in Vegas used to play an hour of Hawaiian at like 6am on Saturdays (like I’m EVER up then?) So many great performers: Gabby Pahinui, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, Keali’i Reichel, Makaha Sons, Hapa (Scottish-Hawaiian rock fusion, yeah!), man the list goes on!
