I don’t know where they get it, but there are hymns that mention crowns. Lyrics like “casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea” spring to mind.
Also gospel tunes, revival type stuff.

I think this deserves more notice. 😃
I’ve never heard of this (though I have heard of people getting jeweled crowns afer they die, in heaven). It’s a cruel god, though, that would take away the jewel from a woman after she got _raped_.

I watched the same show and tried looking up the answer and got some crazy responses. I asked the ladies in my bible study group and they said they have never heard of it it must be a cult. I really don’t know why they mentioned it on the show anyway because she was forced to have sex and God would not punish her for that.

So, after Mother Teresa died, she, of course, went straight to Heaven. St. Peter greeted her warmly at the Pearly Gates, saying “Mother Teresa, hello! Welcome to Heaven! Here’s your halo!”, as he handed her a slim, elegant golden halo to wear.
So, she puts on her halo and toodles off to check out the place.
Not 5 minutes later, St Peter sees her stomping back, and Boy! is she fuming, muttering under her breath, “50 years…slums of Calcutta…silver spoon…treated like royalty…slums of Calcutta…” and so on.
St. Peter was quite concerned and called out, “Mother Teresa, what’s wrong?”
Mother Teresa angrily replied, “I just saw Lady Diana! It’s not fair! I devoted my life to the poor, living in miserable circumstances to give them my all, and I get this dinky halo! She marries a prince, does a few benefits, and her halo looks like a freaking crown!”
St Peter replied,
“Teresa, that’s not a crown, it’s a steering wheel!”]

If you go to heaven anyway, how important can it be to parade around up there bragging about the star in your crown? Why is there so much vanity in this faith?

I heard somewhere about the idea that you would get a “star in your crown” for every person you brought to believe in Jesus, though I never actually heard that taught at church.

Baptists believe you have to be ‘Saved’ to get to heaven. You can’t get there on good works. But, once saved you are always saved.
Good works and helping others gets you extra pearls or stars in your crown in heaven.
God will let you in heaven no matter bad you were if you’re ‘saved’.
God forgives. Jeez, I cannot believe how much of that crap is floating around in my head.

[That hymn](https://hymnary.org/text/i_am_thinking_today_of_that_beautiful_la) is the one place I can remember hearing a reference to stars in one’s crown. And, yeah, nothing to do with virginity.

2 Timothy also discusses crowns. It’s usually thought to be one of Paul’s letters, and if so it predates Revelation, though there are folks who think the letters are the work of somebody else. (I guess asking Timothy who his correspondent was is not an option.)
“Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:8
1 Peter also mentions crowns: “And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown.”
Nothing about stars though; nothing about virginity. Oh well.
