Now, this is Hollywood, and they are prone to squeeze in an element of “but there really is some supernatural even though the hero disproved the main case”, so it’s early to judge, but I’m not dismissing it based upon what I’ve seen so far (this one promo several times). ---

I’ve seen the trailer now, and it just doesn’t look very good. This pairing of actors, both of whom I like, feels wrong. I’ll still go see it on Christmas, 'cos I love trying new variations on the Holmes theme, but I’m guessing that Young Sherlock Holmes will turn out to have done a better Holmes action movie than this attempt. ---

If it really is just Irene, not other women, then I’m willing to put my objection on hold. Previous advance reviews etc. seemed to indicate that he was a real ladies’ man, and that was what I was going off. I think it’s a fairly important part of the character that he never actually gets the girl-- Irene never views him as anything more than an adversary-- but that’ll have to wait for the actual film, as that’s the sort of thing that could easily be distorted by trailers and the like. ---

Except Downey has taken on the Jack Sparrow role. Put on the ol’ dusty english accent and act goofy for the camera. Maybe we’ll get the obligatory shot of him getting punched in the face, he falls to the ground with his pain strucken face inches from the camera, he gives that “Ow, that hurt” look followed by the “Oh no, not again” look as he gets dragged backwards away from the camera. ---

The trailers give ALOT AWAY, it seems. But, with RDj, I’ll watch it and I bet I’ll like it. ---
