# Digital Movie Editor?

I’m looking for a cheap/free simple movie editor. Basically just want to be able to shorten clips taken with my digital camera and/or splice together small pieces.
Another feature which would be nice but not necessary would be to block out small things in the background (My car license plate, for example).
What’s out there?

I think this might do better in Cafe Society, so I moved it there (crossed with IMHO) from MPSIMS.

The canonical answer is “You already have one”.
If you have Windows, you have Windows Movie Maker.
If you have a Macintosh, you have iMovie.

And if you have Linux, you didn’t need to ask the question; you probably use sed to edit video.

You want DVDsoft’s Free Video Dub. You can trim out whatever you want, even divx files and such.

Edit: To put things into video, you’ll need something much more serious, and probably pricey.

My reccomendation is Pinnacle VideoSpin as it will do most (but not all) of what you want it to
