Dropdad told the tale of a buddy of his–St Paul, MN was wide open at the time (you can look it up)–lived above an alley. Dillinger and his gang were apparently guests there and his pal (10 yrs old) saw them loading their car. Friend ran to the closet to get his late cop dad’s service revolver. Friends’ mom thought that was not enough firepower to take on the Dillinger gang, so they lost the reward. Lesson: You’ve got a bead on him. Shoot.
