Nothing wrong with that. A lot of people sub mayo for butter on a grilled cheese. I tried it once, and it cooked up just the same. You ex just turned the heat up too high.

Keeping pets out of the kitchen is easier said than done. Our cat could even smell fish (e.g., halibut) frying from **outside!** And as for our dog…I mean, could you resist those sad little eyes looking up at you from such a sweet little dog who loves you so much, Hmmmmm?

An ex-boyfriend generously offered to make me a grilled cheese sandwich while I was recovering from a bout of food poisoning. He put mayonnaise on the outside. The sandwich burned so badly that I had to throw the pan away. I’m not sure what he was thinking.

Or he could have waved a wand or pointed his fingers at you stiffly and said, “You are a grilled cheese sandwich!” 😃

Tonight for me. I had some leftover chicken thighs from a meal I cooked this weekend. I decided to cook them up with some lemon and oregano and finish with a pan sauce. Normally this isn’t a problem - I have a probe thermometer that I use to tell when my chicken is cooked, but it broke the last time I used it. So I relied on the timings in the recipe which I admit seemed a little low but it’s a weeknight. While the chicken was browning on the stove I would occasionally tilt the pan to take out excess fat. After one such session I smelled something burning - turns out I had caught my oven mitt on fire. Bad sign!

Everything tasted great - but after a few bites of chicken we noticed the inside near the bone was completely raw. Bleh! Hopefully the part we ate was fine but damn. It was a delicious meal and completely ruined.

One of mine was a disaster that turned out great. We were grilling chicken on the outdoor grill when a freak rainstorm hit-thunder, lightning and the temp. dropped a good 25 degrees. We sat in the carport and drank beer, and pretty much gave up on the chicken. Couple of hours later, we went out to find the most wonderful smoked chicken!
