Where did some of this shit come from? Is it that some of you people think any man in his fifties who decides to take out a female acquaintance for whom he feels sympathy and the possibility of a little interest must _really_ only be out to get laid? I’m not a guy, so maybe there’s something here I don’t understand, but it seems to me that a man can actually ask a woman out to dinner (especially one who has been having a rough time lately and he feels could use an enjoyable evening) without his sole aim being to get some. I recognize that most men will take some if they are offered it, but I believe that most by that age have actually developed a _few_ additional interests. As far as I can tell, RedFury behaved quite well here, with one minor (and I really mean minor) exception. That exception was taking her up so quickly on the use of miracle, which I would have assumed was a figure of speech. However, it may not be in the flavor of Spanish spoken in the DR, so even that may have been fine. What was not fine on her part was a) she kept him waiting for half an hour with progress phone calls every couple of minutes to him while he was waiting in his car in front of her house, b) she assumed out loud that her friend must have been punished for his sins by being in such a terrible position, c) upon finding that **RF** was not religious, demanded that he immediately accompany her to a two hour religious ceremony so that he would see the terrible error of his ways, and d) she apparently made no effort to see that her kids had any other plans for eating and expected **Red** to take care of that for her. Sounds like a date from hell to me, and **RedFury** has my deepest sympathy. The fact that some of you immediately assumed that he was the villain here suggests more about you than it does about him. I have never seen him treat anyone in a sexist manner, nor have I seen him express nearly the almost obsessive interest in tail-chasing that I have seen in a few posters and a few other males of my acquaintance. A character from a well-loved TV show once said that he took great comfort in the belief that things happened to people _not_ according to their desserts. He had had a very bad set of events in his life, and couldn’t have stood the idea that these things had happened because he deserved them. I personally have an itch to slap someone silly every time I hear him or her saying (with an oh-so-wise expression and tone) that “everything happens for a reason” (by no means limited to Christians).
