Cripes. How many times does **Diogenes** have to make statements that _flatly and obviously contradict_ his prior statements, as demonstrated by several prior posts in this thread where people have bothered to quote the directly contradictory statements, before people realize that he is either trolling us, or beyond reason? I mean, his argument so far seems to have consisted of, “That could never happen to me. Because I’m special. And those people are murderers. Fine, they’re not murderers, I didn’t say murderers anyway. OK, I did say murderers, but that could mean anything I want it to mean. OK, it has a specific legal meaning but that’s not the one I was using. And anyway it’s illegal according to the statutes. OK, not in every state, but it’s still totally illegal even in the states where there aren’t statutes about it and anyone who says otherwise is a baby-killer apologist.” I mean, seriously? ---

I know nothing of the sort–especially not after reading that article. One mom in that article regularly managed multi-million-dollar budgets without losing a penny. She’s far less absent-minded than I am. And yet she killed her baby through a single moment of perfect-storm distraction. One dad in that article spent years going through the adoption process, ended up adopting a child from Russia, spent a long time taking his baby to physical therapy to help him overcome disabilities. And he, too, encountered a perfect storm of distractions, and killed his baby. If you think you’re immune to the horrifying inefficiencies of the human brain, well, that might help you get through the day, and it might even be adaptive, because of course the chances that it’ll happen to you are nearly zero. But you’re incorrect: your brain is a human one, just like mine, just like the parents in that article, and it suffers from the same imperfections. ---
