So I’m flipping through the channels tonight and on WQED (Pittsburgh’s public station), I see “Dirk Gently”. Wait that can’t be the Douglas Adams book, can it? Oh it is? I gave a Squee that would have shamed a 10 year old and watched all 3 episodes. I had no idea this even existed! Why didn’t anyone tell me? [Here’s the wiki](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirk_Gently_%28TV_series%29). Unfortunately it looks like there were only 4 episodes made before the BBC cancelled it. The series did get a lot of positive feedback so maybe they’ll consider bringing it back at some point. The series uses some of the same characters as the books, but the names are the only thing that’s the same. Some lines and situations came from the books but the plot seems to be new. The episodes revolve around Dirk taking on cases like murderers and missing cats, then using the “interconnectedness of all things” to tie it all together and solve the case. It’s pretty funny IMO. It has a doctor Who vibe to it (zany Britishers run around and use strange methods to solve bizarre cases). Has anyone else seen this? ---

I enjoyed it and was disappointed that there are no more. I have take “the fundamental interconnectedness of all things” to heart to explain things I’m too lazy to figure out. ---

This is the Stephen Mangan series? I really enjoyed it and it was a shame it didn’t go any further. ---

I liked it. Linking it to Dirk Gently was a bit of a stretch, but it was fun. Stephen Mangan is turning into one of those people who I’ll watch no matter what he’s in. ---

No offense to **madrabbitwoman** , but the cartoons are, um, well, they’re not very good. The animation is lower quality than a Hannah Barbera Saturday morning action cartoon, the voice acting is amateurish at best, and the budget was probably less than what I can find in my couch cushions. Netflix has them all, I think, the live action ones also. And Dirk. It showed up in my wife’s recommended list. I was not crazy about the books, but the series is quite good. ---

I tried to watch the first episode, but I missed the couch stuck in the wall of the stairs to his office, so didn’t watch the rest. Bob ---

And if I’m not mistaken, it was fixed when Professor Chronotis opened the time machine door to let the movers maneuver it around (or that’s how it got stuck in the first place - I was never quite clear on that point). ---

Thanks \*\*Nuveena \*\*. I knew there was a couch stuck in a wall somewhere in the books but mistakenly thought it was Dirk’s office. I didn’t dislike the books, but found them very hard to follow, obviously. Bob
