I would say the opening of Season 2, in terms of sheer enjoyable mind-f\*ckery, is not too far removed from the introduction of Dawn in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, way back when. And needless to say, that’s a compliment.
This season was definitely audacious. I agree with comments above that in the end, the resolution was a bit flat. But they threw so many balls in the air, it was amazing that they managed to catch them all in the first place. I enjoyed every episode this season so much.
I think 2017 was a banner year for TV, and probably for me Twin Peaks and Better Call Saul were my favorites. But this show, which I honestly doubted would even get a second season, just charmed the pants off me (metaphorically). I am genuinely sad at the prospect of never seeing these characters again.
This blows.

Why is it when I actually find something really good they cancel it. Beware fans of the _Good Place_, it is doomed. Already lost _Dark Matter_ this year.

This is why I haven’t finished watching season 2 of Stranger Things and stopped at San Junipero in Black Mirror. To save them from cancellation!

Stranger Things is already renewed for at least season 3 and I think I saw season 4 also. So there is some good news at least. But unlike Dirk, Stranger Things was talked about everywhere.

I was waiting to watch Season 2 over the holidays, so avoided this thread. Really sucks that it’s cancelled. Did they ever explain how “the boy” got onto the boat, and where he came from?

One thing’s for certain: the boat arrived before '67; ten years before, IIRC.
WAGs ahoy!
Wendimoor is actually a bit older than Dirk suspects; Arnold Cardenas somehow initiated the place’s creation by drawing on his bedroom walls. Which were papered over by Hector Cardenas.
Francis/Moloch came from Wendimoor, where he was the Boy King. He’s responsible for the drawings around his throne and his boat trip to Earth didn’t quite go as planned; he wasn’t supposed to be an infant when he arrived.
The bulk of Wendimoor was created by Francis on that night in '67. The scissor swords and the claw hammer maces. The evil Kellum Army as a stand-in for the house-buying Kellum Corporation.
Francis was trying to return to Wendimoor via the Murphy bed when Blackwing came for him.
