# Disability and child support....

Does anyone know how it works if the person that is supposed to be paying child support is on SS disability? Does a portion of their disability payment go to child support?

It’s probably different in every state, and depends on the child support agreement. You probably need to give more information to get any accurate answers.

Don’t have much. I just know that the non-custodial parent is on disability. I was just wondering how that work.

It depends on the state. If you become disabled, you can ask for a modification in your child support, but you have to ask, and if you don’t pay, your disability benefits can be garnished.
