I wish someone could help me to understand this board because I really don’t understand. People come here, get asked questions, and then get pitted because people don’t like their honest answers. What’s going on? Is everyone so insecure that unless everyone that comes in agrees with them, they can’t stand it or what? You can make of this whatever you wish, but I read **Jersey’s** post where she answered the question put to her and I saw nothing wrong in her answer. Yet, in response, I’ve seen all kinds of vile name calling and demands for apologies and whatever in response to her. Is this the way mature adults act when they have disagreements? You can shout me down or make whatever insults you like, but I see no respect here for differences of opinion. No mature discussions and no attitude of “let’s agree to disagree on this and move on to something else.” What gives? All the hateful spueing isn’t coming from the conservative Christians on the board, it’s coming from those who can’t stand to hear an opposing viewpoint. If you don’t want honest answers to questions you pose to people, then quit asking them. If you don’t like the answers you get, show some maturity and stop resorting to foul language and name calling. That’s my opinion. I’m sorry but many of you remind me of a bunch of little kids throwing hissy fits. No offense intended but that’s how I see it. Get real and accept the fact that everyone has their own opinions about things and it’s not always going to agree with yours. People can disagree in a non threatening, nice way. I’ve been on boards where they do it. ---

Jersey’s was not an honest answer. It was one rife with condemnation and personal criticism. When taken to task for it, she was smarmy and smug. When Joe\_Cool entered the fray, it was more vitriol in support of his wife, right or **wrong**. Then you joined in with your hair shirt and the martyrdom again. You say there are other boards which live up to your standards. Why are you not there if this board is not to your liking? ---

For someone who stormed off and left, she sure posts alot. Also repeating a lie over and over again doesn’t **actually** make it true. It just makes you annoying. Also opening a thread on the same basic issue as a just closed one makes you something else as well. I think we all know what that word is. :rolleyes: ---

Well, I see **Joe\_Cool** was man enough to post an apology for his actions. I’m still looking for **Kalhoun** ’s apology for calling his wife garbage and a cunt. I’ll probably be looking for a while. ---

You get a lot of people butting heads because on one side you’ve got people with strong opinions due to matters of faith, and on the other side, people with strong opinions due to proven facts. Neither side is inherently better or more correct, but they both feel strongly about their stance on issues. They are also overwhelminly resistant to arguments from the other side, because the other side isn’t arguing from faith or fact, whichever is most important to the defender. Hope that made sense. ---

You miss the poinjt of this board’s _raison d’etre_. The SDMB is a froum for debate and the eradication of ignorance where a certain amount of give and take is expected and cites and evidence are required to back up assertions. But you don’t do that. You makle unfounded assertions about gays, Mormons, Catholics, and so on, and then when challenged, you say, “This is what the Bible says and I won’t discuss it.” Your mind is utterly closed to any worldview save your own.
