# Disappearing posts/threads

Within the week or so I’ve made posts in 2 threads that seem to have disappeared. One was a thread about teeth whitening systems and the other was about an alternative bitcoin economy. Searching on my username produces no results and there are no hits on searches for key words either. Going on the assumption that I messed up and didn’t make an actual post when I thought I did, I understand that my “Peanuthead” search would produce no results, but the search for threads containing “dentist” or “bitcoin” should still be there. What happened to those threads?

Were you the OP? Otherwise, a spammer/sock/troll thread is subject to wishing to the cornfield.

No, I was not the OP in either thread.

Not sure about the bitcoin thing but the other thread had an actual dentist/authentic SDMB member post in the thread.

You didn’t do anything wrong. Typically when spammers or socks start new threads the entire thread even the replies that it may garner are cornfielded. If that were to happen, the posts from those threads would not be searchable.

Okay, thanks. You put my mind at ease now.  
I was a little bit shaky on the bitcoin thing but the teeth whitening seemed legit. Live n learn.
