If I’m home, my keys ought to be in a specific drawer. They may, however, actually be in a different drawer, or in a pocket, or on a table, or in a bowl on the table, or on the kitchen counter, or in a shopping bag, or occasionally (I live on a dead end road) out in the vehicle. Or, at least once, on the floor behind something, where they’d probably fallen out of the pocket of a jacket hung up above that spot. Didn’t vote. Whether slippers are shoes depends on the context. And which nuts I prefer still depends on what mood I’m in and how I’m going to use them. I seem to be doing a lot of not voting. ---

Usually they’re actually in the right drawer. ETA: And if they aren’t, I can usually still find them within five minutes. Usually. ---

I wear slippers around the house about a third of the time and am barefoot the rest of the time. Then again, I’m usually wearing pajamas within five minutes of returning home from work. ---

My car has the electric charger on the driver’s side and the gas cap on the passenger side, so I didn’t vote (but rushed right over here to brag about my plug-in hybrid, which I love). I almost never wear shoes in the house. We have a special mat by the door where the shoes live, as a matter of fact. I do wear slippers in the house during the winter, and although they’re extremely sturdy ankle-high felt slippers with suede soles, if I can’t wear them to the store without someone giving me side-eye, they aren’t shoes. Also, one of the main reasons we don’t wear shoes in the house is so we don’t track dirt in, and wearing slippers outside would defeat the purpose. (The other main reason is so we’re less likely to hurt the cat who likes to lurk underfoot when we invariably step on her tail.) ---

When I come home, I put my car in the garage and leave my keys in the ignition so they’re there when I next need them. We have no keys to the house. On entering the house from the garage, I take my shoes off. Barefoot or slippers depending on the season.
