The trans people that come to mind don’t really fit the answers. Both are the children (one is an adult) of friends. They really aren’t friends or acquaintances of me but their parents are. ---

I want to pick both of the first two in @Mr.E’s secluded-home poll. My primary reasons for preferring the secluded home have nothing to do with whether I’ve got clothes on, but it would be a nice additional bonus to be able to be naked outdoors. Didn’t vote. ---

Same here. We love our seclusion. But walking out on our deck naked to get to the hot tub is very nice too. Not a huge deal, but kind of a reminder that we’re not bothered by neighbors in other ways too. Possible TMI: In our younger days, we would lay around naked on deck chairs and one thing would lead to another. (these days, we need a soft mattress to really relax and have fun) ---

I voted OK outdoors in private, and in appropriate public situations; but it occured to me afterwards that ‘clothing most of the time’ is also accurate, because except for inside the house I’m not generally these days in anyplace I’d consider an appropriate public situation, and my outdoors isn’t as private as it looks at first glance. (And the people most likely to show up in my back fields unannounced are Old Order Mennonite.) ---

I voted okay naked in private and okay naked in appropriate public settings, but in fact, i mostly prefer to wear clothes. And the poll didn’t let me pick all three. Mostly i like to be naked to swim. And at doctor’s offices i sometimes ask if it’s okay to leave my clothes off instead of wearing an ill-fitting johnny. But most other situations i like my clothes. They protect me from the sun, and they keep my bum from sticking to surfaces, and they have handy pockets. ---

Thanks! I was dealing with a lot of situations and I wanted to make sure there was an option for everyone. Re: being clothed or naked, I tried to word it such that being naked was a “don’t mind” versus being clothed as a “prefer” since I don’t think anyone other than the most hardcore naturists really prefer being naked. Especially in public there is a significant difference between being in a setting where nudity is allowed and preferring to stay clothed and being in a setting where nudity is allowed and joining with your nakey-butt compatriots. I also made sure that we’re talking about outdoor privacy versus outdoor or indoor publicy. I think most people don’t mind being nude privately indoors, and there are plenty of public indoor situations where one might be appropriately nude, like a spa or locker room or art class or very fun party. ---

I’ve been naked in public before with very few people (or only one) around, mostly skinny-dipping in my idyllic youth, but it’s been a looooong time, so I went with “usually preferred to be clothed.” ---

I have been naked in changing rooms at pools, maybe at the gym, and long ago in a sauna and also in a pool. None of it has ever bothered me. I haven’t taken the opportunity to square dance naked (yes, i go to an event where this is an option) so maybe I’m more prudish than i admit. 😉 ---

Re the immunocompromised person at Thanksgiving: my family includes an immunocompromised person. No way would she eat indoors with the rest of us. The stakes are just too high. We are all testing. Anyone positive won’t attend. She’s invited. She’s not coming. ---

Also, she doesn’t just avoid covid. She avoids colds, etc. She doesn’t touch public surfaces. Like, if she needs to opens a door other people use, she uses her sleeve to keep her fingers of it. She tells me she doesn’t get sick nearly as much as she used to since she started taking that precaution. She won’t eat with the rest of us, but she does sometimes socialize indoors with masks. But if any of us had symptoms of anything, she’d be staying home. ---

I honestly wasn’t sure how to answer “Do you do the New York Times Sunday crossword?” I don’t currently have a subscription to anything that gives me access to the NYT Sunday crossword, but I did one out of a book this morning, and I regularly do Sunday corsswords from comparable sources (Washington Post, Wall Street Journal). And years ago when I had a subscription to the local newspaper that carried the NYT Sunday corssword, I did it every week.
