I wrote the poll with the definition of “shelled” as “shell removed” in mind and it didn’t occur to me until after I’d already posted it and it had votes that it could be interpreted either way.

We like the soft-close toilet seats, so even though our new house came with brand-new toilets, we swapped out the seats.

Sure, buying something with a feature you want seems perfectly natural. Replacing the toilet seats because “a good cleaning” isn’t good enough just feels weird.

This was intentional. I wanted people to take into consideration issues like access, defensibility, and supplies, and choose the location they felt offered the best balance.

I’ve driven past the Capitol, but that’s the closest I’ve ever been to it.

The only show I’ve watched recently (meaning in the last twelve months) is _Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries_, so the next thing I watch will probably be another episode of that. I do need to watch the last few episodes of _Professor T_ and _Murdoch Mysteries_, though, so I may watch one of those instead.

I picked Data, with Bishop as second choice, for my robot guardian.

My preferred candidate would be a third-party one, so if they came close in even a three-way split I would be astounded.

My favourite socks are the ones I bought four years ago when the local Sears was closing and everything was on sale. No idea what brand they were, but I wish I’d gone back for a couple more packages.

I flew Tokyo-San Francisco on Northwest Orient back in '87, and was so impressed by the service I actually sent a letter to corporate commending one of the FAs. Most of the flying I’ve done since then has been space-A on military flights, but the Air Force wasn’t one of the poll options…

That was one of the only two Heinlein books I couldn’t finish (the other being _Job_). The second time I tried, I think I made it into the second chapter before giving up. I know there’ve been a few other books I didn’t finish, but I don’t remember any of the titles.

Drove my ex crazy (actually, that was a putt, not a drive) by having one book at each end of the couch and one in the bedroom, and reading whichever one was closest.

My favourite form of exercise is jogging, but nowadays I mostly don’t exercise, so those were the two options I picked. The main form of exercise I do engage in is pushing a shopping cart around the supermarket. (Fortunately, most of the stuff I buy is at or near eye level, so I don’t have to keep bending over to get things from the bottom shelf…)

I very much doubt that’s my home; but I suspect that what I’d do in practice would be to stay here anyway. Didn’t vote.

(And no, I don’t have a zombie plan all worked out. My After The Disaster fantasies are generally based on most (but not quite all) people just being Gone. Maybe they’re rotting in the streets; maybe they’ve vanished altogether, bodies and all. But they’re not turning into zombies.)

– my favored form of exercise is doing farmwork. Which does not appear to be a possible answer to @Velocity’s poll.

We once won a Valentine’s Day door prize at a place called Dairy Hollow House, which resulted in two children dressed as cherubs coming to our table and singing some song to us while the rest of the room looked on adoringly. I did not enjoy that.

I once worked at Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor, so I got a lifetime’s worth of birthday singing in restaurants from the business end of it.

I think there are too many forms of exercise to list them all in a poll. But yoga **is** very popular.

Are there any Farrell’s left??? I have fond memories from high school, but I wasn’t crazy about the ice cream. I preferred Wil Wright’s (It’s heavenly).

We go to [Arizona Fall League](https://www.mlb.com/arizona-fall-league/about) games in October/November. They’re held in six of the Spring Training facilities and typical attendance is about 500 in a stadium for 10,000 so you can sit wherever you like. **Desertroomie** has always wanted a MLB-played ball and one game a home run was hit onto the left field embankment (no seats – it’s for picnicking) and rolled to a stop with no one there to collect it. So she trotted out there and got it just before a pudgy guy coming from the other way.

When the game ended she asked who’d hit it and I looked him up on my scoresheet. She went to the dugout before they dispersed and came back with a signed pair of batting gloves instead, saying he _really_ wanted that ball. When I looked him up, sure enough it was his first AFL home run so it would mean a thousand times more to him than to her. She still doesn’t have one, though.

I replaced the seat in the house we moved into a few years ago but it’s because it was cheap seat, When you looked at the underside, instead of being solid, it was concave with ribs for strength. The lower seat was no problem but when you sat on the lid it would deform.
