I posted the “What did Tiny Tim really mean?” poll because the question came up during our Christmas dinner. I’ve always thought it was just Tim talking about his family, but I see I’m outvoted here.

Shakshuka doesn’t appeal to me. It’s basically just eggs and tomatoes. I much prefer Huevos Rancheros.

I was in the “never” category until I got lost trying to find a masonic hall for a funeral in a town I didn’t know well. I’m a convert. But I do see problems with using it because most people are just using it every time instead of paying attention to where they are going. A relative has been to my place six times and still doesn’t know how to get here without GPS. I don’t think that’s good if over 50% of the population is the same.

Huevos Rancheros is basically just eggs and bread.

Those are some cheap-arse Huevos Rancheros. In my book, it involves so much more and is fabulous.

I’m not a shakshuka fan unless it is summer and the tomatoes and other veggies are A) fresh, and B) not high in acid.

Just tomatoes and eggs would be a pretty cheap ass shakshuka. Let’s check my book. Yep, “so much more” and “fabulous” are right there.

I’ll eat whatever is put in front of me. Either, both, it’s all delicious.

The best Ginger Beer / Brew I’ve had was at a local brewer, Cerebus, and it was so dry that you almost wanted to add a tabletop bag of sugar to it, but not quite. SOLID ginger flavor.

The best value to quality for ginger Beer and Brew are the Seasonal and non-seasonal offerings from Trader Joes. I can do a bit better with some other options, but absolutely not at that price point.

It usually takes me twice unless I already know the area. But, yeah, passengers are bored with “This used to be a laundromat, and I would vote at a church two blocks from here, and…”

Regarding license plates: I live in Illinois, which requires plates on both the front and rear of autos. We have three cars, but only five displayed plates.

Our “bonus car” is a C7 Corvette which we inherited in 2019, after my father-in-law passed away. He had bought it while living in Florida (which only requires a rear plate), and it was delivered without a front license plate bracket: the car’s design doesn’t even include a front bracket, and while one can have one installed, the factory bracket is large and ugly, so few Corvette owners have it installed. There are various aftermarket brackets available, but they, too, look tacked-on.

The Corvette is now licensed in Illinois, and while we have a front plate for it, it sits in a drawer in our house.

I had the same issue when I bought my Miata. I asked the salesman about a front license plate bracket, and he was like “Oh, most people don’t even bother with it”. But since California requires a front plate, and I wanted to be in full compliance with the law, I installed an aftermarket one that screws into the tow hook port. I went with that one because most of the others, including the official Mazda one, requires drilling holes in the bumper, and I didn’t like the idea of drilling holes in my beautiful new car.

Don’t people driving around with fewer plates on the car than legally required get stopped and ticketed?

– seems to me that the appropriate grade for either me or my hypothetical child to strive for depends on the course and the person.
