Time to listen to “Dancing Queen.” (White Hen Pantry used to be a chain of convenience stores, based here in the Chicago area, where they were ubiquitous in the '80s and '90s. They got bought out by an operator of 7-Eleven stores, and the ones in this area were converted to 7-Elevens. My old roommate and I used to call White Hen Pantry “Caucasian Chicken Closet.”) ---

There’s no Waffle House around here. Generally, I like my hash browns with a sunny side egg on top. ---

There are Waffle Houses in the county, but none especially near me. I’ve never eaten in one, but on road trips, I’ve always wanted to (that’s when I saw them most). ---

My wife is vegetarian so on road trips we tend to eat at Waffle House and Cracker Barrel a lot just because we know there’s a variety of food there she will eat. I like them both about equally. They’re both cheap and filling. ---

A year or two ago I was at a diner that offered DEEP FRIED hash browns. They were wonderful. I don’t know why I’ve never seen them anywhere else. ---

When I was twenty-something, I’d go to Waffle House with friends after gaming until midnight. But never for the hash browns, because even at that age, I’d get instant heart burn from them. I may or may not have eaten at a Waffle House sometime, not sure; but if so, I have no recollection of what their hash browns are like. So I’ve no idea what I’d want on them; which I figured counted as “other”. When I make hash browns myself, I don’t usually put anything on them (though there’s salt, pepper, onions, and garlic in them, along with of course the potatoes and enough oil to fry them.) Latkes, however, call for applesauce. ---

Professional chefs making dishes with ingredients a normal person is checking out of a grocery store with? Sign me up to judge! I can be pretty sure the chefs aren’t going to be able to throw weird ingredients at me, and tasting their creativity could be fun. At Waffle House I get my hash browns smothered, diced, chopped and capped. With hot sauce and mixed with the 2 eggs (fried **hard** ). ---

Never had Waffle House hashbrowns. Ate at a Waffle House once in my entire life and I’m not likely to go back. The pancakes were terrible. However, the proper way to eat hashbrowns is with A-1 sauce. ---

Yeah, Waffle House doesn’t serve pancakes. I really dig their waffles though. The hash browns (and pretty much everything else) are covered in grease, and I don’t mean that as a bad thing. It’s all very tasty, if not the least bit healthy. ---

I think it was a Waffle House I stopped at on a trip in the southern US. _Every freaking time_ someone walked in the door, every waitress yelled “good morning”. I ate and got out of there as quick as I could. ---

Regarding bug protein, I’m in the camp that if you are okay with eating shrimp, crab, lobster or crawdads, you’re probably going to be okay (after a period of adaptation) with eating well prepared bugs, so I voted yes. Note, that as I read it, it didn’t mean exclusively. So I’d be having my bug-fried rice, bug patties, and bug alfredo as my ‘main’ meat, but still able to splurge on the periodic duck, fish, or other meat for special occasions. ---

I need a Maybe. I haven’t had insect meat, and don’t know either whether I like it, or whether it satisfies my particular system’s need for meat. I’d be willing to give it a try. And I’d also want to be able to occasionally have other meat, for variation. ---
