Zombies are fine. I prefer them in movie form. I can’t watch _The Walking Dead_, it’s boring to me. I agree with George Romero, it’s just a soap opera with occasional zombies. In that show they’re just dangerous wildlife, nothing more. ---

Depends entirely on what the author does with the zombies. Great story that has zombies in it? fine by me. Terrible story that has zombies in it? Do not want. Nothing in the story other than aaarggh zombies? Not interested. Voted “meh”. ---

I don’t watch zombie movies, since they tend to turn into siege stories, which tend to give me nightmares, and **Mrs Magill** does not appreciate getting kicked in the middle of the night ---

It’s not that I’ve had a bad life or a ton of regrets, it’s just that there’s no telling how much time I’ve got left, and I’m not ready for it to be over. To be young again with my life in front of me? Yes please, I’ll take that deal in a heartbeat. I’m going back to the 80’s because that’s when I came of age. No need to relive my childhood (though it was fine); I’ll start over as a freshly minted adult. The biggest change I’d make would be committing more thoroughly to my higher education, but I wouldn’t go back planning to do one thing or another. It’d be a great adventure! ---

The poll states you can go back to “any time in your life”, but I was born in 1980. So what happens if I go back to the 1970s? Do I cease to exist? For the poll about your boss bringing baked goods to the office, I can’t imagine a scenario where I wouldn’t want it. I’m that person who _always_ takes free food at work whenever it’s offered. So I said “Looks delicious” because I surely would take it. ---

That poll is terribly unclear. Am I dropped into the body I had then and I get to relive my life from that point, or do I appear as a new person? I’m assuming the former, but without any knowledge of future events and their outcomes what’s the point? Now, if I got to keep the knowledge of Super Bowl/World Series winners and which tech stocks were going to tank when, I’d jump back to the 70s and place a few bets. ---

I would do the 2000s over. So age 17 to 27. At age seventeen I was a legally emancipated minor and pretty overwhelmed, and it would be nice if I’d had future me to guide me through that dark time. I did not have a lot of wisdom or emotional resilience during this decade, and I had to make a lot of therapeutic progress, so it would be nice to start that decade with all the therapeutic tools already in place. I think it would have been a lot easier. And for example, what I didn’t know back then is that I have ADHD, and if I had known that I would have been able to find the tools to improve in that area of life. I would also not have given my husband a hard time about not being ready for a baby yet, because he was right, that shit’s hard. ---

I voted ‘No’ for the garlic press, although I had one in the past. Sure, if you have a modern one with all the bells and whistles to easily push out the remains and clean they are a thousand times better than the old presses of the past, but I still don’t care for them. Not because I’m a food elitist, or because of the Alton Brown saw about unitaskers, but because it means a loss of control of the final product. As I got better at cooking over the years, I found that the size and consistency of the prepped garlic made a _huge_ difference in the taste of the final cooked meal. For long cooked dishes, the mashed garlic was fine. Stir fries or other dishes cooked hot and fast? Not so much. In general, if I’m using raw garlic, I’ll take the knife work. If it’s just for seasoning, then quality dried or packaged minced garlic is fine, without even the work of a press. If I could go back to the 70’s with my current level of still-imperfect-but-a-hell-of-a-lot-better social skills, I suspect I’d manage several things a lot better than I did. And I also didn’t get the choice of any decade of my life, as I was in my 20’s in the 70’s. I think that’s about as far back as I want to go anyway, though. My enthusiasm for going again through grade school and high school is pretty limited, even if I could do it in a somewhat less socially clueless state. ---

The “Polls only” thread has a “no discussion” rule, but as far as I can tell the discussion thread doesn’t have a “no polls” rule. Depends on your jurisdiction. I have a pocket knife on me at all times. There’s a fire axe and a baseball bat in the trunk, along with a bevy of tools, including a 40" breaker bar. There’s nothing there that doesn’t have a legitimate, non-weapon use. ---

I voted for the 70s, because for me that was 3rd grade to graduating from high school. I was struggling with undiagnosed ADHD, and knowing what I know now would have allowed me to handle my problems much more easily Also I would have started dance classes much earlier, as well as fighting off the messages of negative self imagery. ---
