I can’t hate on _I’m Getting Nuttin’ for Christmas_ because someone made a video with that song playing over footage of their dachshund surrounded by a bunch of presents that he’d torn open from under the tree. It ended with him hopping into his dog bed as the lyrics sang: “because I’ve been nuttin’ but bad.” Very cute. ---

Depends. All absolutely verbatim, no dialogue or action at all guessed at, no minor event skipped over? I don’t think that’s necessary, even if it’s possible. Modified so as to significantly misrepresent known persons and/or events, because the director thinks it makes a better story? No, I don’t think they should do that. ---

I have ethical misgivings about “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”. Hippos are very territorial, and very aggressive, and giving one to a little girl is likely to get her killed. ---

Then don’t go to [Fiji](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/if-you-like-pina-coladas-stay-the-hell-out-of-fiji/1011712) I actually like that song - it’s about a couple where _both_ of them are trying to cheat because “I was tired of my lady” When he answers her personal ad & they get together she says, “Ohh, it’s you” all lovey-dovey like. No embarrassment. No screaming & yelling, “You cheating bastard!”. No, “We gotta talk” One of these times the song is going to be different, just like in _one_ of the replays you’d think the quarterback would wise up & not throw that pick-six again. 🤪 ---

My wife and I visited a seahorse farm in Hawai’i. They have a big tank where you can touch the seahorses and let them wrap their tails around your finger. We walked out of there with my wife absolutely in love with them and saying she wanted to get some pet seahorses of our own. But after investigation, it seems they are pretty difficult to maintain and care for, so for now we are just sticking with our pet rats. ---
