I love the Simon&Garfunkel song, but the Bangles version is really good. ---

I always felt the Bangles version should have a shredding guitar solo in the middle of it. I add one in my mind. ---

Like some of the best covers, the song version by the different artists _feels_ entirely different despite the lyrics. So, I like both, but (especially as a child of the 80s) the Bangles works for me. Same way I prefer the Disturbed version of [Sound of Silence](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Dg-g7t2l4). But it’s a difference of mood and style. ---

Not stockpiling. Besides the owner’s manual, I have a 2 CHF coin for the grocery cart, a folding nylon bag from Wales (also for grocery shopping), a pair of old glasses for me and a pair of old glasses for hubby. And a parking disc ([link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disc_parking)). I would not give a salute, because I do not want to acknowledge him. I like the idea of shunning. Difficult decision, but I had to go with Simon & Garfunkel. I (Gen-X) listen to Simon & Garfunkel more than my parents (Silent). ---

My grandmother had antimacassars in her house. That was the last time I ever saw them. ---

Same here. And, even then, it was only one of my grandmothers (the “fancier” one) who had them. Apparently, my maternal grandmother – the one who had eleven kids, and was part of a very blue-collar family – either didn’t care, or didn’t have time to fuss with those. ---

I recognized “antimacassar” as a Word I’d Seen At Some Point In My Life, but had no idea what one was. When I looked it up, I thought: what a ridiculously bulky word for something so frilly. ---

I just looked up the kickoff time. It’ll be at 30 minutes after midnight for my time zone. Definitely not watching it or having a party. I would have the same answer if I was in the same time zone. Both grandmothers had antimacassars in their houses, as did their siblings. Don’t see them very often any more. ---

We go to a Super Bowl party every year, because they’re church friends and it’s a nice group. Still, I’m tired of these two teams and would skip the whole thing if it were socially okay. ---

I’ve seen antimacassars, I’m pretty sure, in others’ homes, though I don’t think recently. I didn’t do anything to them, and doubt my hair was greasy enough that it would be plausible to say that I used them. Voted for the peaches and cream. I like peaches, with or without cream. Voted “other” on the Super Bowl party, because if you paid me enough then I’d go to one. You’d have to pay me, though; or else it would have to be really important to somebody important to me that I show up, which I’m thankful to say is not something that’s ever occured in my life. – how much you’d have to pay me would depend on where it was and who else was going to be there. I own a component stereo system, and so voted. I haven’t used it in quite a while, though; I think it would work if I plugged it in, but I’m not sure. ---

Both my grandmothers and a few of my older aunts deployed antimacassars, but I haven’t seen one in fifty years or so. People still used Brylcreem and such in the sixties, but not so much these days. I will watch every minute of the Superbowl if you count what I see as I fast-forward through the halftime show and all of the time-outs. For the Superbowl I don’t skip the commercials just in case there’s a good one, though there haven’t been many in recent years. I use my stereo system occasionally to listen to old LPs and 78s. For cassette tapes I mostly use a boombox-like radio-tape player in my office, but the stereo system has one too. ---
