The ribbon cutting ceremony i attended was open to the public. I guess a public invitation was posted in the local newspaper. It was for a bridge that had been closed for years to be rebuilt. I think the mayor cut the ribbon. It was sort of fun, in a “we finally can use this bridge” way. It was also very quick ---

Oh, a quick thank you and shout out to @puzzlegal for the April 5th poll. I answered (accurately) “Huh? There’s going to a protest?” but since there will be a local march, and it’s on a Saturday, both my wife and I will attend. Yes, it may not make a difference in perception, and there’s a very, very small amount of risk, but I figure it’s worthwhile. Though, granted, I could just donate the $2-4 in parking fees to a good cause, but we’re giving more than that to the ACLU and Planned parenthood monthly anyway. ---

Thanks! Also, i just saw another April fools’ prank that i enjoyed. I went to a dance this evening. There’s a guy who usually comes and brings a different Bundt cake each week, and labels it. (Peanut butter, Oreo, lemon poppy ..) Today, he brought a plain square sheet cake, and some tiny cupcakes, about the size of donut holes. Today’s label says, “vanilla Bundt cake with Bundt cake holes”. It took me a moment, and then i smiled. ---

I was thinking, the archivist probably gets less social interaction than I’d like on the job; but the librarian probably gets too much. Then I thought, but the archivist may work most of the time in rooms with no windows; and the librarians, at least at the libraries I go to, get a good bit of natural light; which I’ve learned that I need. So I went with librarian. But maybe I just don’t know enough about what archivists are actually doing and in what sort of conditions. ---

Honestly, neither is great. Both are good, but there’s so much chocolate that’s better. What Godiva does well is shaped chocolates. And the little Dove hearts can be good. The ice cream bars are better. ---

I like all of those listed sweets, but of the bunch, would prefer a Dove Bar. Haven’t had one in years, so I guess maybe I’m overdue! I’ve always enjoyed reading and libraries, and have several friends who are librarians. I think being an archivist wouldn’t be quite as stimulating by comparison, although if it meant working with records that particularly interested me (like at a historic site or a presidential library), that could be fun.
