Not sure what to say on biotop’s poll. I’m traveling this weekend. I’ve gotten info on the nearest protest, and I’m trying to arrange to get there. But it might prove to be too difficult. Especially as there’s stuff i traveled to do, and i don’t want to miss too much of it. ---

I like Peeps. At least once a year. I’m not in the U.S., and there’s nothing where I am, so I voted not going. If I lived in the U.S., I’d be going. ---

Tried to find a rideshare and failed, and didn’t want to drive an hour or more and then most likely have trouble finding parking in a mostly unfamiliar city.. Will contact my non-representative. ---

I lost about $7,000 in my 401k. That wasn’t as bad as the first month of Covid pandemic in 2020, though, which gave me a $30,000+ drop in a few days. ---

I kept my married name. Even back in the 1990s I was not willing to go through all of the bureaucracy necessary to make the changes again. The married last name flowed much better. Also - I despised my original surname more than the husband I had just divorced. ---

I suspect, for the last name question, one of the factors is whether there are children, and whose last name they bear. I would bet that a there is a much smaller percentage of childless women who kept their ex-husband’s name than of child-ful women who kept their children’s name. ---

Perhaps if I had had children I would have kept my married name. Now, when I was married I changed my middle name to my maiden name. Changed that back too. ---

I originally voted that I hadn’t checked my 401k but now I have. It’s not great. Fortunately I rely mostly on my pension. As a government employee I had a 457(b) not a 401k. My wife is working and the pension hasn’t been crushed by cost of living increases so I can still let it sit for now. I’m a laddie not a lady so I didn’t vote in the name poll. A couple of data points from my 3 long term relationships: 1st wife, couldn’t change her name fast enough when we got divorced. She hated her father and everything about him so I didn’t quite understand that. She didn’t hate me nearly as much. We have two kids with my last name. Long term girlfriend I lived with, kept her married name so her kids would have the same last name as her. She has an extremely complicated very Italian name and she is the least Italian looking person in the world. My wife, went back to her maiden name when she got divorced. She did not change her name when we got married. Too much of a pain in the ass to get everything changed over again. I was perfectly ok with that. ---

I almost missed that apparently neither the market van nor the earlier small pickup count, although I did/do sometimes use one of them for personal use. As they’re both primarily farm use (though not primarily use on the farm) and the van at least (I can’t remember about the pickup) gets a commercial tag according to NYState, I changed my vote to exclude them.
