I have a spice rack, with spices in alphabetical order. I also have a cupboard of larger quantities of spices and lesser-used spices. They used to be randomly arranged, but last time i cleaned it out, my husband insisted i put everything back in alphabetical order. So now each “column” (it’s a deep cabinet) is labeled with which spices go there. Ground spice X sits right after whole spice X on the spice rack. ---

Two alphabetized racks, 2 small non-alpha grouped-by type racks, a box of salts and flavored peppers (mostly gifts), a few daily-use spices on the counter. ---

I have multiple spice racks, two added shelves of “bulk” spices/herbs/nuts, as well as more stacked on the counter next to the stove, and a bunch in a cupboard directly above the main spice racks. I answered random and “some other order”. Short version, they’re often sorted by sizes (small narrow jars in racks, large penzy’s jars stacked on the counter, and repurposed Kirkland mixed nut plastic bins for the bulk stuff). Otherwise, it’s mostly the “most used” kept nearest the stove (cayenne, garlic, red pepper flakes, onion powder) and the farther from the stove (or closer to the bottom of the stacked jars) the less frequently it’s used. ---

My spices are in a drawer that pulls out of a cabinet under the counter. Labels on the top, savory on the left, sweet on the right, frequently used in the front. ---

I’m not real keen on any of the place-name bands listed in the poll. I do, however, have a fondness for Black Oak Arkansas. So “other.” ---

I said I keep my spices in the cupboard, randomly placed. But upon further thought they did unconsciously end up getting arranged with the most frequently used spices at the front, and less often used ones towards the back. ---

I have my spices on a lazy Susan in the cupboard above the microwave. They’re not in any particular order because all I have to do is spin the turntable to get the one I want. ---

Baking spices are in the cupboard with baking soda, yeast, etc. Cinnamon (Zimt) is in front as I use it the most, along with vanilla extract. Other spices and herbs are in a drawer, grouped by type. Don’t do alphabetical - they are labeled in German, French and Italian and I normally speak English. Extras are in a different drawer. ---

That’s probably a better organization, although it would require me to think about it harder and also, I’m not sure what i would do with spices that down different types of cooking. I use a lot of the same spices for India savory dishes as for sweet baked goods, for instance. ---

So “other.” I’m pretty close with Mean\_Mr.Mustard, and I happen to know that he posts public polls partly for some accountability, but also because he sometimes finds the results interesting to know. It’s also fun to know who’s on your team. He does leave some polls private when the topic is something he considers a bit sensitive. If there is anything else you would like to know, I can ask him next time I see him. mmm ---
