I’ve downhill skied, which is fun but not necessarily adrenaline-rush-inducing. My adrenaline moments (pleasurable, not terrifying) have all been galloping on a horse. On the beach, on a trail, and most of all over a cross country course of jumps. Simply the best 🙂 ---

The thing i most like a straw for is sipping a hot cup of coffee as i walk to the office. I use the very narrow straw that’s meant as a stirrer, and i so very very slowly, so the coffee in the narrow straw can cool a bit, and not burn my mouth. It’s also good for slurping up the last bit of a cappuccino. I kinda enjoy a straw with a restaurant cold drink, but it’s not something i do at home, or ask for of they don’t hand me a straw. But with milkshake (a drink i enjoy less than once a year) the straw, again, is key for that last satisfying slurp. Oh, and when i need to drink colonoscopy prep, a straw shoved far into my mouth can convey the nastiness past my tongue, so i don’t have to taste it. I don’t like sippy cups at all. ---

Indifferent is really the wind choice for how i feel about beaches. If it’s not too hot and sunny, they can be nice for a little while, especially for walking along and watching/listening to the ocean. If I’m actively swimming, a beach gives a good entrance/exit point to the water. Sitting on the beach in the sun is pretty unpleasant, though. ---

I grew up in Washington State. I suspect my idea of a good day at the beach doesn’t match other people’s idea of a good day at the beach. [Ruby Beach](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby_Beach) is one of my favorites. The beach at [Cannon Beach](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannon_Beach,_Oregon) is another favorite. ---

Love the beach. We rent a house down the shore for a week every summer and take shorter trips throughout the season. I was just there this weekend. We are hoping to move closer soon. Currently we are 1.5-2 hours away from the ocean. I don’t mind a straw in a soft drink but I usually don’t use them. In NYC it’s a cultural thing. You are expected to get a straw with a soda can. I’ve heard from people that anything without a straw is considered dirty. ---

I have all of my teeth capped and use straws with everything to avoid the rush of sometimes excruciating sensitivity. A sippy cup would not work for my situation. I carry them in my purse and take extras when I travel as supply in the real world is unpredictable. I cut the plastic ones to fit my coffee cup and reuse them as much as possible. I agree that they are good for a “last slurp” of whatever liquid you are enjoying at the moment. I also use the “stirrer straws” when I can find them. ---

To me, beach = sand, sweat, heat, and lotion. An unpleasant combo in my book. ---

I’ve never been a fan of the beach. I don’t really enjoy heat or humidity, I don’t/can’t/shouldn’t tan, I don’t swim, the sand gets everywhere, and I get bored. Meh. ---

I love the beach but only for vacation. I lived near the ocean when I was young and it lost its appeal but beach vacations are a favorite. I enjoy the sun and sand and crisp blue waters of Aruba. ---

I love the beach, but I’m fishing when there. I wear long-sleeved shirts and a wide brimmed hat. My legs don’t really need cover because I’m almost always at least hip deep in the surf. I can’t imagine going to a crowded pedestrian-only beach and having nothing to do but hide under a tarp/umbrella or bake in the sun. I could build sand castles I suppose. ---

I go to the beach primarily to swim in the water. The water in Aruba is just perfect. Warm enough to go in without freezing but cool enough to enjoy. The stunning aqua color of the water mesmerizes me every time I go. The waves are usually gentle and it’s easy to relax for hours just bobbing along. I love diving headfirst into the waves as they crash. I’ll go back to the little tiki hut to dry off and have a drink or snack every now and then but I typically do not just bake in the sun. Sometimes I’ll take a walk in the surf and stop to chat with people along the way. I used to collect sea shells/rocks but that is no longer allowed. I have plenty in my collection. I never stay at the beach for more than 3 or 4 hours since the sun is pretty brutal even with sunscreen. Beach vacations will always be a favorite. ---

I’ve ue long said if the CIA wanted to torture info out of me wed go lie on a beach somewhere. After i divulge state secrets they’d reward me with something fun & enjoyable…like waterboarding! To shoot sunrise or sunset, okay. To take a walk/run, okay. To body surf, okay, but to lie there & bake? No freakin’ way! We did a family reunion / milestone celebration at a beach house in SC. I was on the beach for sunrise, with camera _every_ morning & off the beach within a half hour of that, not returning until the next morning. ---

This is generally how I feel. I went to a beach wedding maybe five years ago. Who the hell has their wedding on a beach? The marriage only lasted a year. I blame the beach. ---

Being on the beach is an ancillary activity, and I’m not a fan of just lying on a hot beach. Although now I live in the UK where pretty much all the beaches are covered in rocks, lying on them is not a pleasant option anyway. ---
