Heh. I still remember his anti-jeans rant (claimed he never wore jeans and mocked those who did, a battle so lost by 1994 that I was genuinely confused as to why jeans were even a thing with him). ---

I find really difficult to imagine a catastrophe that could exterminate humanity in only 30 years. Even a truly devastating global thermonuclear war would leave some survivors for at least a hundred years or so. Run of the mill idiocy (say global warming) would take even more time. ---

I have no idea how much longer humanity’s going to last. I also have no idea how long it would take us to figure out how to terraform other planets, or possibly to figure out how that isn’t possible. And I don’t think one of those words is more complimentary than the other; though the context and the tone of voice can make quite a difference. ---

I haven’t eaten corn on the cob in over 50 years. With lip fur it is contraindicated unless you are sitting next to a garden hose. Pre-mustache I did more of a spiral around the cob. These days I usually just cut the kernels off, mix them with mayo, taijin and lime and eat it from a bowl. ---

It’s been a long time since I’ve had chocolate milk from a mix, or at all, really. But looking at the list of choices in the latest poll, my response is: “Whatever happened to Carnation Instant Breakfast? I used to like that stuff.” ---

I haven’t had chocolate milk, made from a mix, in a long while. When I was a kid, I liked PDQ (“other” in the poll), which was a granulated chocolate drink mix, possibly made by Ovaltine. PDQ also made strawberry and egg nog flavors, and my mom regularly bought all of the flavors for us. I also recall that, in the '70s, when I was drinking it, they had series of collectable jar lids, with various designs on them; I even sent away for a plastic display frame from them to display the lids on the wall of my bedroom (I had a bunch of them that had the mission logos for the Apollo moon missions). Drank a lot of Instant Breakfast as a kid. We all thought it was a healthy substitute for a full meal. I’m not surprised they had to rebrand it. ---

Back when i drank chocolate milk from mix, it was Nestle’s Quik. I assumed that had been rebranded to nesquik and voted for it, as i liked it more than the Ovaltine my father liked, or chocolate milk made from Hershey’s syrup we sometimes had. But i haven’t tried most of them at all. ---

Because “instant breakfast” is a misleading description of the product opening it up to criticism from consumer and health advocates and perhaps even running afoul of FDA labeling guidelines. ---

Have Nestlé Quik in my cubbard, along with a chocolate flavored protein mix. Since I drink a gallon of milk every two days, I use quite a bit of it. I typewriter my corn on the cob. I think ‘beautiful’ is, well, ‘beautiful’, but _lovely_ is a form of beauty which pierces the heart, and, therefore, is more complimentary. Humanity has thousands of years to go and a lot of algae-slimed planets to terraform. ---

The new name implies that it is an essential part of breakfast but not breakfast itself. But, yeah, it’s still misleading.
