There was one time when I was a teenager the Dead was playing close by and I wanted to go. My parents put an end to that. When I was older it was clear that they weren’t my scene or style of music. I probably should have tried to go once for the experience but I never did. ---

Prefer cheesesteaks over French Dips, but voted for French Dips because you do not have a chance of getting some nasty-assed Cheez-Whiz on your FD. ---

As someone originally from SE Pennsylvania I feel bad choosing French dip over cheesesteaks but to be honest cheesesteaks made properly are just greasy messes. Funnily enough a Philly cheesesteak chain opened up near me (named “Passyunk Avenue”, appropriately enough) in London. The problem I had with them is that they used _actual steak_ in their sandwiches - by which I mean ribeye rather than whatever part of the cow Steakums come from. At least they offered the American/provolone/whiz cheese options, but I found them rather bland. They also offer “Italian subs”, but they include olive tapenade in them and use oil and vinegar instead of Italian dressing, and thus I have shunned them ever since. If I wanted a goddamn olive oil sandwich I would have ordered one. ---

I typically enforce a rather strict First-In-First-Out policy regarding groceries. But if the older meat is already frozen, it’ll surely keep a little longer. No point in making the effort to rotate the stock in this case. (Especially if it’s my “favorite meat”; I’ll presumably use it fairly soon anyway.) ---

Just because you _can_ get Wiz on your cheesesteak doesn’t mean you _have to_. As someone previously pointed out, Provolone is the answer. ---

Huh, I voted splinter because that’s what I call it when it’s in my skin; if it’s not in my skin, and it’s plural, it’s splinters; and if it’s just one, it’s interchangeable. I’ve never given that as much thought as I did just now! ETA: I knew everyone except Prescott, Foot and Clegg. Kinnock I only know because Biden stole from one of his speeches. ---

I agree, Whiz is some vile stuff; however, even with a bad accent, “Whiz” sounds nothing like “Provolone”. I have never had Whiz on a steak, even a little drop as they come from separate areas/containers when they make your sandwich ---

No idea how many times I’ve seen the Dead. More than Fleetwood Mac, less than Jimmy Buffett/Bruce Springsteen. I find cheesesteaks to be nothing special at all. I’d much rather have a French Dip (at Philippe’s or The Hat) or an Italian Beef. ---

A splinter is a sliver of something that’s stuck in you. If it’s not stuck in you, it’s probably still a sliver; which can be a small bit of nearly anything, especially something elongated. I’ll just have a sliver of that cake, thank you. Whether I want a mocha or a latte or either probably depends on my mood; but what I’m probably actually having is plain black coffee made at home. I’ve heard of many of those politicians, but the only one I’ve heard of in the context given is the one who didn’t (I think) outlast the lettuce. ---

In my experience, customizing sandwiches isn’t always successful, for a variety of reaons from the benign to the ridiculous, and I’d rather not waste food and delay eating because the kitchen staff was in a rush / going on muscle memory / didn’t read the order correctly / read the order correctly, which was written wrong / was in a mood / whatever. ---

I had a hard time choosing between Cheesesteak and French dip in my own poll. As mentioned before, my real favorite is the Italian beef, but the people have spoken and that one didn’t make the top two. I ended up going with the French dip, and I think on some subconscious level I picked it because it is more similar to the Italian beef – both are “juicy” sandwiches in their own way. While one does not traditionally dip an Italian beef in jus at the table like a French dip (although I did get one served that way at a restaurant in California) you can order it “dipped” (they dunk the whole sandwich in jus before serving it to you). But even a standard Italian beef is served with the meat dripping with juices. ---

It probably depends on whether the mocha is sweetened. Michael is usually too sweet, and i avoid it, but if unsweetened is available i like it. I’m not a fan of the latte (if I’m having milk, i want either a cappuccino or a plain cup of drop coffee with milk) but I’ll willing to drink it is that’s all that’s available. I usually just have a cup of black coffee at home, or if I’m out, either a cup of coffee with cream or a cappuccino. Or possibly an espresso. ---

Good point, but I will take a french Dip anytime. Mind you a cheesesteak with real cheese is good also. Right. I was in a large corporate building and they had an onsite little restaurant, which had “Taco Tuesdays”. You could watch them and direct them when they make your tacos. Sometimes a taco truck came outside and many employees went there. I went with work friends a few times- and EVERY.SINGLE.TIME they got my order wrong. Not just mine, mind you. And yes, they had a larger assortment of meats, and according to some- hotter salsas. The only coffee I like is a mocha- extra chocolate. ---
