I’m not a churchy kind of guy or a Christmas music lover by temperament, but as a general rule, most of the Christmas songs I tolerate best are traditional religious pieces. Also, I burned up all my choices selecting listed titles, so Other wasn’t available to me. But “The Twelve Days of Christmas” is some kind of messed-up nonsense by any measure. I can’t approach it as an expression of “true love,” nor can I appreciate it as irony or anything else. It’s just WTF? in a bad way. And any rendition of “Carol of the Bells” makes me want to scream. The damn thing just _grates_ on me. It doesn’t help that both are among the more popular Christmas songs for advertisers to parody in TV commercials. ---

That’s one way to look at it, but the difference is, for me, I wouldn’t mind having 99 bottles of beer on the wall (I’m assuming they’re on wall-mounted shelves). ---

I don’t get the hate for “Santa Baby”. It’s a wonderfully transgressive song. I always imagine Eartha Kitt dressed as Catwoman singing it. Then again, my favorite Christmas song is [“Christmas in Jail”](https://youtu.be/cM38kN4AOys?si=Ml9453oC6OpUKBXJ) ---

Right, but that is the only good version. She sounds like she is going to give “Santa” all sorts of “delights”, while the other versions just sound greedy. What I dont get here is the hate for “All I want for Christmas is You” which isnt a bad song at all- but it was overplayed for a couple of years. I thought SDMBers could think outside the memes. Somehow haters started some memes hating on that song, and it spread. I mean worse than Christmas Shoes? ---

Nothing says “the Beatles were so much better than John or Paul solo, because they checked each others’ bullshit” as much as their awful Christmas songs (as solo artists). I’m not sure which of them I despise more. ---

I’m pretty chill when it comes to Christmas songs. I marked “Christmas Shoes” because it’s sappy garbage, and “Last Christmas” because it’s not a Christmas song at all, just a bad pop song. All the others range from “meh” to “I like that one!” ---

I understand your point, but perhaps I can shed a little light. In constructing the poll, I deliberately phrased it as “your most hated song” rather than “what is the worst song”. I was looking for a song that draws loathing, not a song that is merely not a good song. Put another way, a song being overplayed (among other things) can potentially instill some hatred of it within you. Even if it’s not the worst song you’ve ever heard. mmm ---

I take no pleasure in any secular Christmas or Hanukkah songs. I’m okay with sacred music and old Christmas/winter ballads, especially if they have pagan elements (e.g., “Oak and Ash and Thorn”). ---
