My sister got a waterbed at some point. She’s the only one I know that had one. I never had any interest in having one. ---

Fun fact: the waterbed was patented by Charles Hall in 1971. His first patent application was denied because it was too similar to the fictional waterbeds described by Robert Heinlein in several novels dating back to the early 1940s. ---

Both types of films in Velocity’s poll can be very worthwhile. I don’t make movies, so I’m not sure which I would be more inclined to make. But I am fairly certain that my decision would not be based on anybody telling me what kind of film I _should_ make. ---

For me, it boils down to “Do you want to make a movie about reality or do you want to make a _Star Trek_ movie?” Who doesn’t want to make a _Star Trek_ movie? ---

For me the “absence of bigotry” made me think of Schitt’s Creek, which seemed to exist in a world without homophobia, as everyone was completely accepting of David and Patrick’s relationship. ---

Yes, it might be fun to live in a house used for some obscure quirky movie that I liked. But anytime widely known would attract tourists. And while it might be fun to get tourists twice a year, and chat about the cool quirky movie, i imagine it would get old quickly if it happened at all frequently. (And since i haven’t seen a lot of movies or TV shows, i don’t actually have a lot of “obscure” ones i like. Although, my father bought a large tree to plant in his backyard, and it was a tree featured in a movie we’d seen. And that was kinda fun.) ---

I voted that it depends on the property, but I would never want a house _because_ of its notoriety. If I was interested in a house and I just happened to find out that it was, say, Mr. Blandings Dream House or somesuch that would be OK. When I voted it didn’t occur to me that there might be some wacky cult-movie fans dropping by, and that would make it a no-go. ---

The houses I immediately thought of were either Irish farmhouses featured on _Ballykissangel_ or the rather tony place that Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson had in _Love Actually_ in central London. ---

When the movie became a big hit, they started getting multiple people a day taking selfies in front of their house. I’m told they didn’t mind as long as they stayed on the public sidewalk. But that’s a reason to think twice if anyone ever wants to film a movie at your house. ---

I wouldn’t want to live in a house that means more to other people than it does to me. Investing in pop culture is pretty risky and not worth it unless it also brings you some joy. ---
