Since packages are often dumped in the rain, despite the covered porch, yeah, ring the bell. Then maybe drop the package there rather than on the walk. ---

Heh. I was putting on my socks and shoes today and that came to mind since I had recently seen the clip. Hence the poll. Apparently, the majority agree. ---

I am not a social drinker nor do i ever drink and drive. Not even half a beer. But one of my doctors suggested a half glass of wine or similar for bedtime, and i also find Benedictine settles my stomach. So I guess “A little wine for thy stomachs sake”. I hate feeling buzzed ---

My socks and shoes are rarely in the same place so it’s an easy choice. Socks go on in the bedroom and shoes go on by the door before I go out. ---

Just by coincidence, this afternoon I was getting ready to go out to Home Depot to get a new doorknob for the bedroom. And just as I was starting to put on my shoes, mrs. dirtball said, “Are you going to put them on Archie style or Mike style?” And now this. Whoa! For the record, Archie style. ---

I have maybe two beers a year. Alcohol and I parted ways for many reasons, and I’m fine not really drinking anymore. ---

I use all three of the examples in the internet/voice activated/Siri poll, but I am not seeing this as an option. mmm ---

I use exactly one Internet of Things device (starting my car via the phone, when it’s cold). So, I said “yes” for that. I use Alexa several times a week, usually for music or NPR, but occasionally to answer a question. So, “yes” for voice-activated web device. Siri or the like? Almost never. Occasionally I compose a text message by voice. I went with “no” for phone-voice applications. ---

I’m not sure what Internet is things is, but I’m guessing it’s when you have to use an app to use an appliance or something. I guess I do that, but not much. We’ll die before we get a Ring doorbell or anything like that. My husband is much too paranoid. We don’t use voice activated devices. I do use voice commands but only when I have to push a button. For example I set alarms on my watch by pushing a button and verbally telling it to set an alarm. Again, I do it this way to appease my husband. I’m not really sure what I’d do if it were only me deciding. ---

More or less; it broadly refers to devices, appliances, etc. which are connected to the internet, and can be operated or interacted with via the internet. In consumer terms, “internet of things” is mostly in reference to smart devices, smart home technology, etc. ---

We don’t own any smart devices but my refrigerator has an app (which we almost never use because we don’t use those functions.) My frickin’ Christmas lights even have an app and can’t be adjusted any other way. My peak flow monitor for asthma has an app. My CPAP has an app that tells my insurance company whether or not I’m using it! I use a lot of stuff that is connected via app that can’t otherwise be used effectively. I don’t really consider it by choice, but this is the society in which we live. What I don’t have is some kind of smart hub or Alexa-like device where I can turn all the lights off in my house by pressing a button. Or anything like that. I’m not morally opposed but that world is a mystery to me, and my husband _is_ morally opposed, so I suppose it will remain a mystery. ---

It’s not common for me to put on shoes at the same time that I’m putting on socks. So, I’m nearly always sock-sock-shoe-shoe, and usually there’s a fair amount of time passing between me putting on socks (usually just after showering) and putting on shoes. ---
