If the parents know one or more of the raising parents aren’t the genetic parents, of course, they ought to tell the child: partly for medical reasons and partly in case this sort of thing comes up. But some people probably still think it’s better not to tell them, or not to tell them till they’re grown; though I suspect it’s easier to grow up knowing about it since before the child was old enough to remember being told. ---

As for the College protest- I would call in the cops _if-_ Damage was done, including serious vandalizing- violence occurs- or some students are stopped from going to class due to their religion, etc. As soon as outside agitators joined, I might also. ---

Actually, I’ll take that part back. The demonstrators could get attacked by somebody. I’d think that a better reason to try to arrest the attackers than to take it out on the demonstrators, though. (Of course, if the attackers are the National Guard, that might be difficult.) ---

I like Richard Dawson mostly for nostalgic reasons, but looking the old shows, I get the feeling he smelt of cigarettes and scotch. There’s also that whole kissing all the female contestants thing. Steve Harvey is genuinely funny, so I had to go with him. ---

Family Feud: Richard Dawson was creepy, Richard Karn was benign, Louie Anderson was the opposite of funny, and I can’t stand Steve Harvey for more than one second at a time. The others I know nothing about. I also don’t care for the game itself, so I do not watch/did not vote. mmm ---

If you go on a show knowing that is part of the show- then clearly you are okay with it. If you read a script that calls for kissing, and you accept the part- then you should not complain they “made” you kiss. But Harvey is funnier. Dawson was classic. ---

For Family Feud, I haven’t watched it since Richard Dawson was host, but I wanted to vote for Marco Antonio Regil – host of _Cien Mexicanos Dijeron._ He was genuinely funny and not obnoxious. ---

Women in the 70s put up with a lot of casual sexual harassment as a necessary condition of existing in public. That doesn’t mean that they were okay with it, just that they were used to it and it was normal, expected behaviour. ---

I have a vague idea that family feud might be the US equivalent of family fortunes but never seen it or know any of the hosts. “What is the best pasta for mac and cheese?” is an odd question mac is short for macaroni, if you use any other pasta it is not Mac and cheese, it is like saying “What fruit makes the best apple pie?”. ---

I’m a patriotic American. But my definition of “patriotic” differs from that of most of the people being noisy about it. In the words of a very old bumper sticker: “My Country. Right the wrongs!” – The bedpan is probably not going to be food safe plastic, whether it’s new or used and then sanitized. Hot soup may dissolve plastic into the soup. I don’t want to eat the plastic. I’d drink the water from the sterile unused urine cup, though; it’s presumably cold water, which is less likely to absorb anything, and also will sit in the cup for a shorter time than soup sits in a soup bowl, as the soup’s usually eaten a spoonful at a time while I could glug the water down. Or maybe all of that is a rationalization. I’m not entirely sure. ---

It is by no means “necessary” to appear on such a _Game Show._ You could make that case for a work setting, but not for something you have to really want to be one. The bedpan poll is kinda crazy as a bedpan holds a LOT of soup. If I was in survival mode, needed to cook, but what I had was a stainless steel bedpan, I would cheerfully use it. Heck a whole case of stainless steel bedpans could be pretty handy.
