> [@kenobi\_65](#): > > I find that, when I’m driving more than a short distance, I nearly always use the navigation app now, even if I’m on a route I know well, so I can be aware of traffic issues or road closures, and get re-routed if needed. It does these stealth changes, meaning if I know I have 50 miles to go on this road, why do I need to look at it for a while. As I said in another thread last month on the same topic, it should [LOUDLY](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/wonky-gps-experience/1021209/49) announce a route change, not put it on a screen & give you three seconds to cxl it, where if you’re paying attention to driving & not your screen you miss it. I rarely vote in @Mean_Mr.Mustard’s polls because he always makes them public for some reason. However, I did in this one, but I’m curious as to why he made it as even he voted for " Who cares? Christ on a calliope, Mustard, _get a life!_" The only time my phone is on speaker in public is if I need to look at something on the phone; since my ears only hear & can’t see I will have it on speaker only long enough to look at whatever I need to look at & then take it off speaker & hold it back up to my ear like a phone should be held but that’s something like looking up an address or the picture you just sent me, _ **not** _ a whole conversation. --- _[View the full topic](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/discussion-thread-for-the-polls-only-thread-part-2/997636)._
