I answered for the car, which has va standard plate and a couple of old Harris bumper stickers. The work van has a commercial plate and no stickers. ---

I put a couple of small bumper stickers on my car to help identify it in crowded parking lots that might have similar-looking cars parked nearby. ---

Just yesterday coming out of the gym I grabbed the handle of a car that was the same make, model and color of mine parked two spaces away. It was a different year and the handle felt different so I knew right away. My mind was preoccupied or I wouldn’t make that mistake. ---

I’ve taken to looking at the plates. All cars look pretty much the same to me, and this new car looks like every other white car in the lot. ---

I usually look at the license plate. If I miss that, the lack of my usual pile of stuff in the car is likely to alert me before I actually try to open the door. ---

Almost happened to me and my father about 20 years ago, we were about to try and open the door of a car who was the same make, model, color and whose license plate was almost exactly ours, if ours was “PRV - 219” this car was “PRV - 218”. We noticed at the last moment and were there gawking at the license plate and trying to calculate the odds when the actual owner of the car appeared, we commented the similarity to him but he was non-plussed, some people don’t find that kind of thing interesting I suppose. ---

Coming out of the Ikea with an arm load of boxes, I ended up standing behind a dirt-hiding tan Dodge Caravan, waiting patiently for **Mrs Magill** to open the trunk. Unfortunately, she was in our dirt-hiding tan Dodge Caravan two rows over, bemusingly watching me. ---

This is an advantage I didn’t anticipate when I bought a metallic red Mustang: a unique profile, and an uncommon paint color. I’ve never not been able to find my car in a lot. ---

I only have one of those magnetic stickers in the shape of a ribbon (like the AIDS ribbons), but mine says “I adopted my dachshund.” I’ve kept it on my car even though we no longer have a dog. When I retired I had a lot of magnets with mostly dachshunds on them. I put them inside the lid of my trunk. I forget they’re there. When I drove to the hazardous waste drop-off place a month or so ago, I was surprised when one of the guys taking the stuff out of my trunk (where we’re supposed to put it) told me that he liked my dog. Took me a second. ---

When we got our new car, my wife wanted the “Friends of Las Vegas Metro Police” license plates. I wasn’t that crazy about the idea, but she argued that it could help avoid tickets (not that we were getting lots of tickets to begin with). Anyway, she usually gets what she wants, so that’s what we have. On a related note, the car came with a license plate frame advertising the dealership. I usually remove and discard those immediately, but in this case, it covers up the bottom part of the plate and the slogan “SUPPORTING OUR HEROES,” so I have left it on. I do want to support proper and legitimate law enforcement, and I certainly don’t want there to _not_ be police. But LV Metro has its share of issues, and proclaiming them all “Heroes” is a bit much to swallow. ---

I don’t remember whether I’ve ever used Mercurochrome. I have a vague memory of somebody, maybe a school nurse or some such, using it on me; but the memory is so vague that it might be wrong.
