In spirit, I agree with you, however having grown up in NJ and having lived in pizza deserts like California and Texas, I have to say that Domino’s was the one thing I clung to during my exile. I don’t think I have ever eaten a Papa John’s or Little Caesar’s pizza in my life, but when I lived in CA I survived on Domino’s because 1) it had a decent crust, 2) the sauce wasn’t sweet and 3) they browned the cheese properly. Now things may have changed in the 40 years since then, and I wouldn’t think of ordering from a chain while living in the NY/NJ/CT area, but if I found myself in northern CA again Domino’s would probably be on the menu.
Pizza Hut is altogether verboten.

I had a friend from NJ; she went to college in Hoboken, in sight of NYC. Took a job in retail & got promoted to manage a less than urban location which required her to relocate. Her first day there she thought she’d be nice & treat her new staff to lunch. She asked them for a good pizza place to order from. Someone responded, Pizza Hut"
She laughed & said, “Very funny! Seriously, where should I get it from?”
They again replied, “Pizza Hut”
It seems there was not any local pizza places nearby which caused serious second guessing her decision on the promotion & relocation.
Pizza Slut is bad but Poopy John’s is worse; about a cup too much sugar per pizza in the sauce; _waaayyy_ too sweet.

I live within 3 miles of 3-5 equally great pizza places that locals like to argue about. All are better than what you can get in many whole states. But in a pinch I don’t hate dominos. I just put it in a different category of pizza-like substances. I disagree about Pizza Hut. Sometimes the dense greasiness of a Pizza Hut pan pizza is what I crave. It’s in its own food group but it can be addictive.

This was one of the first words I realized was a regionalism of mine, along with soda (vs. pop), when I moved to Chicago for college.

I’m at an age where I would just as soon check out than live the remainder of my years deprived of liberty. On the other hand, who can really say for certain until they are actually faced with the prospect? That lizard brain only cares that it keeps breathing.

That hypothetical does not provide how good the State’s case is, nor how good my representation is. My answer would depend on both those factors. If I’m morally reprehensible to commit premeditated murder, then I’d be morally reprehensible enough to lie about it if I could get away with it.

If I murdered someone in cold blood, I would be a different person, and I have no idea what that person’s preferences would be. If I’m falsely imprisoned, I think I try to clear my name, even if living in prison is horrible. 🤷

I think I might try living in prison. I don’t think I’d tolerate it well, though. Maybe if I could get into a gardening or dog-raising program. Otherwise, whatever I did at the moment of decision, I’d probably be better off with the death penalty.

Haha! Fine with me. I don’t care for those chains anymore in general. Every once in a while, a pizza from Domino’s can be okay, if you live near a decent location. But service and quality seems to have declined at many chain restaurants.

I said this in a long forgotten cafe society thread, but if I’m having a _good_ vanilla ice cream at home, then one of my preferences for topping is a local dark cherry balsamic vinegar. It gives a lovely sweet/sour contrast to the creamy vanilla.
But I normally buy multi-flavored Ice creams suited to my particular tastes, and vanilla for various a la mode dishes. My issue with _most_ of the options in the list is that they’re often premade or low quality.
So the only thing on that list I picked was whipped cream (fresh, the real stuff, no damn cool whip), and I’ve made dulce de leche by simmering sweetened condensed milk for a long time to good effect.

That sounds really good!
My revealed preference is nothing on the ice cream, if it’s good ice cream. But i do sometimes use toppings, and the poll asked what i wanted if i wanted toppings.

There’s lots of qualities I look for in ice cream. Sublime isn’t one of them.

Most of the time when I grocery shop I use the app to shop and scan as I go then at the checkout lane all I have to do is bag and pay. There are associates in this area always ready on the spot to sort out issues.
Even better is curbside pickup where I’ve shopped my order from the comfort of my couch, bed, or lounge chair and within hours Im summoned to the store and my groceries are delivered to my vehicle all via the app.

So much about the checkout experience can vary depending on where (and sometimes when) you shop, that it’s hard to give a blanket answer. Overall, I don’t have a strong preference one way or the other, but in specific contexts I might.
But I think it’s silly to demand a discount for using self-checkout.

I hate self checkouts. I am afraid I will make a mistake and end up in a situation.
I’ll stand in line for the cashier when I shop thank you.
