Shouldn’t need butter. And most peanut butter here in the US is salted, so that’d be the norm.

I switched from peanut butter and jelly to peanut butter and raisins when I was in college. Figuring what the heck, it’s grapes anyway. Some years later, as long as I was using dried fruit, I switched to peanut butter and dates. That turned out to be the perfect combo. So my “Other” response to the poll is peanut butter and dates on whole wheat.

No. It is, however, on the same oceanic plate as most of Oceania.

The Australian plate includes Oz, bits of southern New Guinea, and the northwestern third or so of New Zealand. Micronesia, southern New Zealand and most of Melanesia are on the Pacific plate. And there a couple of minor plates in there, too.

One caution about a PB&J - if you’re using a commercial American PB, be careful, because far too many (IMHO, YMMV, etc.) have so much added sugar that if adding jam or jelly it can get _unpleasantly_ sweet.
If I’m making a PB&J it’ll be what’s often sold as “Natural” peanut butter, which is just peanuts and salt. It often requires vigorous stirring as the oil tends to separate without the emulsifiers and additives in the commercial stuff, but it’s worth the effort.
I generally like a bittersweet-to-sweet option for my jam, often apricot preserves, tart cherry, or raspberry. My wife is totally on team strawberry and only that. None of us have ever cared for grape though.

Yeah you know, me neither. I don’t like the texture, I don’t like the taste of the filling, and I swear they get stale faster than other donuts.

If you read my posts on the thread about “dry sandwiches” you will probably understand that i really really dislike the consistency of jelly donuts. That gloopy middle that oozes out when you bite into it is really unpleasant to me.

Recently, I had a PB&J burger at a new restaurant. It was actually Thai peanut sauce and sweet jalapeno jam, but that’s how I want all my PB&Js from now on.

If you want a nice change from PB&J, try a peanut butter sandwich with a slice of canned pineapple in it.

You know, I only mentioned the donuts to illustrate how much I dislike PB&J. I’m really not all that invested in donuts in general. But I Really. Really. Dislike PB&J. I would sooner eat PB and ketchup, and my contempt for tomato ketchup rivals my contempt for jelly. I’m not trying to yuck anyone’s yum. I just don’t like jelly (or ketchup).

On an episode of _Sesame Street_ Oscar the Grouch once ate a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. My brother and I tried it.
If you use sweet pickles, it’s actually pretty good.

PB&J is classic kid food. That doesn’t mean you can’t eat it if you’re not a kid, but you’re not the target audience. A PB&J sandwich is relatively cheap and filling, can be made by kids themselves from ingredients commonly kept on hand, and doesn’t need refrigeration (making it ideal for packing in sack lunches).

I’ve always though Independence, Fact of, a lot more significant than Independence, Declaration towards. For that matter, 1783 seems more significant than 1776. But creation of a national identity requires some spin on the cold hard facts of history.

I voted for July 4th. The signing of the constitution makes logical sense but July 4th started to be celebrated as early as July 4th, 1777 in some places. July 4th, 1778 was the first celebration ordered by George Washington (in my old hometown). So logic has nothing to do with it. It was sort of set before the constitution was wasn’t even a thing.
