How come Disney employees are not allowed to have mustaches while Walt Disney himself had one?

According to [Snopes](http://www.snopes.com/disney/parks/longhair.htm), they _can_ have moustaches now:

> [@](#):
>
> Faced with manpower shortages at their American theme parks, in early 2000 Disney modified their policy to allow male cast members to sport neatly-trimmed moustaches.

They also explain the original logic of the prohibition:

> [@](#):
>
> Back when the code was implemented, facial hair was perceived as conveying a negative image to many Americans, who associated beards and mustaches on young men with beatniks, un-American activities, and – in the 1960s – hippies.

That _used_ to be the case, but not anymore.

In any event, Walt was the boss, so if he wanted to keep his moustache while telling everyone to get rid of theirs, he was perfectly within his rights.
