Yes they were. The eponymous black hole was clearly a satellite photo of a hurricane, somewhat recoloured. This was *two years *after Star Wars! Check out the goofs: there are visible wires, matte paintings, you name it. For the time and budget it was inexcusable.
Hehe. Well, I was comparing them, in my mind, to the effects in Logan’s Run… you have a point.
I saw The Black Hole about 100 times when it first came out… As a teenager, I was an usher in a theater that played the film two times a night and four or five times a day on weekends… for weeks… and it was a single theater… none of that newfangled multiplex stuff for us back then…
The only thing I can still remember about it is that all us ushers would act out scenes in the lobby, and one of our favorite lines was “The Black Hole will be your grave!”… I have no idea what character said it, but as soon as I saw the title of this thread, I added “will be your grave!”…
So I guess in a weird way it made an impression on me…
