That’s what I was going to say. I heard somewhere once that she developed her distinctive walk by cutting the heel of one high heeled shoe shorter than the other. I can’t remember where I heard it though, and I have no idea if it’s actually true.

Not a real person (I don’t think) but I keep having the mental image of that old R. Crumb _Keep On Truckin’_ character interfering with the walks of real people in my mind’s eye.

That reminds me of a _Next Generation_drinking game I once read the rules of. If memory serves, you were supposed to take a drink each time Riker walked as if he were trying to knock down an imaginary door with his forehead.

Meg Ryan has a weird walk - it’s kind of masculine and duck-like. It’s really noticeable in the movie _French Kiss_ where she’s trudging around Paris.

So it would seem. Odd, eh?

Wonder if Billy Barty should be mentioned…

Then, don’t watch me walk. I never noticed that Ralph walks on his toes…but I do. Familial trait, it seems; my mother and my niece do it, too.

Indeed!

For some reason I’m just now thinking of Walter Brennan.

Does anybody know for sure if Piper Laurie has/had a limp? The one she had in _The Hustler_ was deliberate, but I think I remember almost every role of hers either involving a limp or their working hard to disguise it. Just curious.

Mini Me?

The more I think about Julia Roberts, **mariposalabrown** , the heavier that clunking seems. Graceful as a penguin. (Just to bring this post full circle!)

Edie Brickell, of New Bohemians fame.

When they had their one hit (“What I Am”), I remember seeing the video on MTV, and getting quite the crush on her. When the New Bohemians played on David Letterman, I made sure I watched that night. After they performed, Edie walked over to sit down and talk with Dave. Her gait was…well…un-ladylike. She took these huge strides, and walked like she was wearing hunting boots that were three sizes too big for her feet.

That’s who I thought of right away–I saw Nights in Rodanthe and thirty years later, he still has that little hip swagger thing he had in Breathless.
