I could have been more explicit. The original idea was to refinish the existing floors, but they were in such rough condition, and not over the entire house, so we decided to overlay the whole house with Flooret LVP, which we have used before. It looks nice, wears extremely well, and is low maintenance. ---

yep that type of flooring is what i call a 90/10 you get 90% of the goodness of doing it “properly” (sanding the hardwood) … at 10% of the “cost” of it (cost in the wider sense of the word, incl. time, blood/sweat/tears and dust) … and chances are somebody will rip those out some time 50 years from now and say something along the line _“that SOB really put plastic wood over actual hardwood floors” … how lucky are we!!!"_ ---

The current project I am working on is a garage/shop. We have hired out the concrete, the rafters and roof cladding, electrical, roof insulation, and floor heating boiler install, but are doing the rest ourselves: wall framing, wall cladding both interior and exterior, soffit, fascia, plywood and drywall, mudding, taping, painting, etc. [![Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/xVZAL2Q.jpeg "imgur.com") ](https://imgur.com/xVZAL2Q) [![Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/famXzdz.jpeg "imgur.com") ](https://imgur.com/famXzdz) Half the building is a 2 car garage with a home gym set up planned and the other half is shop space, plans include dedicated areas for welding, grinding, blacksmithing, and electronics workbench. Future hobbies like 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC routing, and, fingers crossed, some old school manual machining tools like a lathe and mill. It will be a place to play when I retire, and when my Dad no longer wants/is able to keep his wood shop, we can move our woodworking tools, including his lathes into this space, and we can keep hanging out while making things. ---

Are you doing any kind of fume extraction? My biggest problems with winter metalworking is fumes and grinding sparks. Also, is there a bathroom in there? ---

I am planning a divider wall made from panels made from tube steel, plywood and acrylic sheets. Slider window at one end, 900 CFM fan at the other will replace the air every 2 minutes, which meets forge safety requirements.
