Do any creation myths make sense

Actually radio preachers like them basically are just preaching to the choir. Basically talking to people who already believe.

^ somewhat reminiscent of those Jesus-is-based-on-horus sites, and equally compelling. Thanks.

Others should feel free to see here.

What, you’re rejecting anything that isn’t a very close paraphrase of Genesis? It’s widely accepted that the older myths were polytheistic, so you’re not going to find it. But any mind capable of concluding that Genesis and modern science aren’t really incompatible, as even sellout professional astronomers have done, should be able to do the same with ancient myths.

I’ve rejected nothing. Do you have a preferred rendering of the Enuma elish creation epic that you would like to reference? Perhaps you could cite the specific lines that you find particularly informative.

Or not.

An any case, I do not view Genesis 1 as holy writ and would never insist that it has nothing to do with the Babylonian creation narrative. In fact, in many ways the former can be appreciated as a polemic against the latter.

As for the original question posed: yes, Genesis 1 “makes sense” to me, and it’s perfectly OK with me if you feel otherwise.
