Yes, they probably are upset that I don’t believe and am going to hell, but there’s very little you can do to start believing in God, just as it would be rather hard to ask someone to believe in Santa Claus again. In terms of morality, are you more a sinner for: 1. Not believing in God and being honest about that. 2. Not believing in God, but lying about that. That I can tell, two wrongs do not make a right. Now if it bugs you to have people give bipartisan views on Christianity, then I suspect that if anyone needs to think things over a bit more, that would be you not them. Try reading the thread on [the Armenian Genocide](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=384894) and see whether you think the bipartisan stance of the EU is going to be more accurate, or that of the OP. ---

Well, I think this pitting is kind of cute. **FriarTed** really wanted to flame these guys, but he’s just too gosh-darned Christian to do it effectively. I think even Ned Flanders could come up with a better insult than, “I hope your grandmother prays for you!” You’re just too good natured for the Pit, **Ted**. And that’s really not such a bad thing. ---

Save your tap dancing glee for the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Mormons, the Free-Will Baptists, the Lutherans, and every other sect of Christianity who deviates from your narrow point of view. Y’all can duke it out at the end. Atheists are anti-religion; and not exclusively anti-Christian. The argument was narrowed down to Christians vs. atheists because it was almost entirely Christians that dog-piled the discussion. (Apparently the other faiths didn’t feel the need to check in and condemn atheists. God bless 'em.) We don’t have a personal agenda to separate you from your faith; but we would like to separate you from your hate. Any suggestions about how to remove prejudice from God’s followers in that Big Book of yours? Speaking of that: are there any teachings in your Holy Word that discourages you from feeling smug and self-satisfied? How about that whole taking the Lord’s name in vain thing? Do you have His permission to condemn non-believers in His Name? ---

[/QUOTE] Yeah, he’s great when he’s not gleefully anticipating seeing Jesus lay the smackdown on the unbelievers. “Oh, I hope that you get over yourself & surrender Yahweh/Jesus when finally confronted by Them- I’m just admitting that it’ll be kinda fun to see you break down then.” Not that I really expect “Christians” to evince Christ-like behavior, but his self-satisfied fantasies about his God beating up the opposing team strike me as a rather far cry from “good-natured”. ---
