I don’t think that “turn the other cheek” must necessarily translate to “willfully take abuse.” Even hypocritical “un-Christistian” Xians like **FriarTed** sometimes comes off as deserve the right to defend themselves against personal attacks. Being that I think that the Bible is largely a steaming puddle of bat’s piss, I won’t hold anyone to the “turn the other cheek” standard. I certainly won’t hold myself to it. ---

[/QUOTE] I would disagree. I think the phrase “turn the other cheek” clearly commands that Christians not respond to abuse in kind. My disgust with the likes of badchad and Der Trihs is large and magnificent, much like my large and magnificent cock - but nevertheless, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect “Christians” to manifest Christian values. The unworkability of passive resistance as the sole method of conflict resolution seems obvious to me - but that’s yet another reason for me not to subscribe to that religion. There is a very special kind of hypocrisy in manifesting such behavior _particularly_ in regard to one’s Christian faith. ---

[/QUOTE] I agree. **Friar Ted** clearly violated a couple of Christian ideals, which he acknowledges. I also think, however, that no human can perfectly manifest their religious ideals at all times - not always because such ideals are unworkable, but because people are fallible. I have empathy for human failing, but that doesn’t mean I won’t point it out when I see it. One of my (the main one of my) religious ideals is to cause harm to no one, not even myself. Do I always succeed? Hell, no! Is it even \*possible \*to succeed, life being what it is? Probably not. I mess up all the time. When I do, I don’t throw my religious ideals away (although of course you’re free to do so if you choose), I simply rededicate myself to doing better starting right now. No…now! Now! I get a new chance to do better every time I fuck up. As long as **Friar Ted** isn’t claiming he’s attained Christian perfection, I don’t see why he shouldn’t get them as well. But yeah, I’ll call him on it. I don’t expect he’ll always like it (although I note he did thank me for it this time), but I do hope he listens and tries harder. And yeah, he’ll fuck up again. That’s cool. So will I. ---
