About the same taste difference between different colored M&Ms. Huh. Notice how there’s plenty of brown M&Ms nowadays, but… what ever happened to the tan ones? That’s right… replaced by the blue ones. _Reverse M&M-ism?_ _ **HMMMmmmMMM**?!_ ---

Upon further thought. It turns out that people can detect the major histocompatibility complex, an important component of the immune system [by scent](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Histocompatibility_Complex_and_Sexual_Selection#The_Relationship_Between_Olfaction_and_MHC), and it affects whether they find someone attractive or not. So, wild speculation time: Scent is a component of taste, and the different “races” _might_ just have enough of a consistent difference in their MHCs to lend them a different taste. ---

still with the outsized pot method of cooking, the taste question is stronger with regard to rearing (farm-bred or free-range,) feeds (grain or grass) and age (calf, yearling, or mature.) i have a feeling the cooking method is variable. behind the fully clothed cannibal game is always a fat and fuzzy cannibal who’s chopping carrots and potatoes with unerring accuracy into the pot, and seasoning with salt and pepper. as regards color, there is a noticeable taste among birds of the same genus or family. among wild ducks, the tastiest is the black. among goose, it’s the canada and the specklebelly. cattle? a toss-off between the black angus and the kobe cattle. ---

They don’t actually taste different, but they smell different, and smell affects the way people perceive taste. ---
