Do comics get any better that Preacher?

Nyet, but I had recently heard of its semi-relation to Sleeper! There’s a purchase that’s past due, oooh you betchee. And Selkie mentions the “imminent” publication of the second trade- would that be in the next couple months, I’m wondering?

Evil Death- I suppose I should’ve said story arcs instead of “runs,” and more specifically, the individual TPBs, which is generally the way I was introduced to the series. As evidenced by your list of story arcs, Rake would indeed be one of the later ones, no?

Moody Bastard, per Amazon’s website, the release date for Sleeper: All False Moves is July 1. IIRC, that’s timed to coincide, more or less, with the release of the first issue of Season 2 in singles.

I second Big Bad Voodoo Lou’s recommendation of Point Blank. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Although I don’t think it’s as good as Sleeper, it’s excellent in its own right and well worth reading.

Much obliged, Selkie! (as you can see, I’m also known as Lazy Bastard) :o

I loved Preacher too but the ending did suck. I’m reading Sandman now and really enjoying it. I’d probably go with Sandman next but it really depends on what you specifically liked about Preacher.

Picked up the very first TBP at lunch, Original Sins. (The comics store I was in didn’t have Dangerous Habits and I figured I might as well check out the very beginning.) Please tell me this one’s a worthwhile read, too (?)

I have good news and bad news…

Original Sins is my personal favorite TPB of Hellblazer. I love the story to death. However, Hellblazer has an unusually strange collection history. Exhibit A is Original Sins, which reprints the first nine issues of a ten-to-twelve (depending on where you choose to say it ends) story arc. The remaining issues are uncollected at this point, although DC has promised a new Delano Hellblazer TPB that will come out in the fall that presumably provides the missing issues.

The next TPB is Dangerous Habits, which begins at issue 41. Go figure. There’s a ton of really good Hellblazer material that hasn’t been collected, and one can only hope that the release of the movie will encourage DC to reprint it sooner rather than later.

Really! I did not know that, as Johnny Carson would say. Well… as long as it’s a good ‘un, I can stand to be left hanging on the actual conclusion for now. If I can dig C.S. Lewis’ The Dark Tower when it’s basically a novel fragment. . .

(Doh. This means I may be buying the Original Sins story twice. Yep. Should’ve checked with you first.) :smack:

I can’t imagine DC will re-reprint the first nine issues, so you’ll just be getting the Original Sins arc spread over two volumes - Original Sins, containing issues 1 - 9, and As Yet Unnamed TPB, containing 10 through ??? It’s actually a difficult arc to pin down a specific “ending” for. Issue 10 is crucial, 11 and 12 really are part of the arc but are more disconnected from the main action.

Mind you, it’s all conjecture at this point that the new TPB will contain the end of Original Sins. As far as I know, no formal announcement as to what specific issues it will contain has been forthcoming, other than that they will be from Jamie Delano’s run.

So, am I the only person who thought the end of Preacher was fantastic?
