They finally caught\*\* [ERIC ROBERT RUDOLPH](http://www.fbi.gov/mostwant/topten/fugitives/rudolph.htm)\*\* (The Olympic Bomber) after more than five years on the run. He was on “The FBI’s 10 Most Wanted” list and had a 1,000,000 reward on his head. Does the cop who recognized and ultimately arrested him get the reward money? ---

Was the cop on duty at the time? IIRC, capturing someone while performing the duties of your job makes you ineligable for a reward. This was the consensus when a similar question was asked about whether soldiers who captured Osama Bin Laden would get the reward, and I don’t know why it would be different for civillian police officers.
