That’s really poetic. Would that we all transcend our identity, if only for an instant; if there’s nirvana, he achieved it.
I did once attempt to found The Flatten The Earth Society. We acknowledged that the earth is a glove, but sought plans to render it flat, mostly to make paper maps more convenient.
Follow up question…
What’s the global distribution of flerfers (never heard the term before this thread)? Is this just an American thing or could I encounter one in Germany or Great Britain? Japan?
The Ancient Greeks figured out the world was round using a bunch of sticks. They even worked out the circumference of the Earth to an accuracy of less than 50 miles. A round Earth is really not difficult to prove to anyone that isn’t completely closed minded.
Actual video of that event
To be fair, it seems to be that he professed flat-earthism in order to get publicity for his stunt work (or so it has been claimed by his representatives, after his death)
That is a new one to me and I am intrigued: please keep me in the loop.
Lol. Dammit. My secret Glove-Earthism theory is no longer secret.
Right- or left-handed?
The Earth is glove-shaped and we live on the middle finger
No proof at all will change their “minds”.
Correct. Except i would modify this by getting rid of the word “nearly”.
Now, there are some not set in their ways- if they are asking questions like “How sure are we that Oswald was the lone shooter?” maybe they can be talked down.
“Fake”. And since they dont understand the science, it wont work.
The Dunning-Kruger Effect strikes again. It’s a powerful force.
Ok.
Ask a flerfer how Polaris can be anywhere but on the horizon?
Piper surreptitiously puts his favourite hat back in the closet.
I take your general point, but I would be surprised if many Trump supporters were FEs. Some of the CT types I have known were smart and capable but had one weird belief that was more like a hobby than a real belief on which they acted or that informed other parts of their lives. And they have been across the political spectrum. Of course, some were idiots and whackadoodles.
Based on my limited knowledge of pipers’ garb, the hat may not be that big of a deal…
It’s true that only a minority are flat earthers, but IME basically all strong orange supporters also believe in one or more conspiracy theories. This shouldn’t really be very surprising, given that the orange platform (I’m trying hard not to say it, because we don’t want yet another thread to be about him and the election) was largely built on conspiracy theories.
'Zactly. FE may be a more whimsical CT than many. But the mind that likes CTs generally loves how Faux works.
Not all of them fall under Faux’s spell. But they’re under somebody’s spell and thag makescthen very dangerous voters even if they’re generally lefties.
