Do I have to choose DNS servers?

I stopped manually entering Network information 12 years ago.

I set up new PC’s at work (for our dept) Our company network established a DHCP server, at least by 2002. I was finally told to use it and stop entering the Network information manually around 2004 or 05. I really preferred using static IP’s. But, I’m just a worker bee. I do what I is told.

At home, I’ve used DHCP even longer. Certainly since getting DSL in 1998.

I do remember the early days when we called our ISP and got all the Network information and entered it manually. That was SOP for many years. We were using 1200 baud modems.

Geez, that was over twenty-five years ago.

By the early 90’s they sent a floppy disc that setup the ISP connection for the customer. That was very common with the early DSL days.

DHCP came a few years later.
